First-world, even after the cold-war. Is an economy roughly the size of RL United Kingdom and a GDP per capita with a size in between RL Norway and RL USA enough of an indicator?

We DO accept immigrants from third world countries. In fact, we might celebrate next year's Christmas or the year after that, thanks to Filipino workers in Verdiga.

If we're going by the Cold War definition of first and third world nations, then Carolina would be first world nation. However, Carolina would be a first world nation in contemporary definitions as well.
