Special Notes about your civilization: The Oligarchs are thought by most Vendeezans to be Gods, but are really individuals who have expanded their consciousness through Cyberspace. This allowed them to take control (literally) of the Vendeezan race, using them as cannon fodder in a quest for galactic domination, a gaol they managed to achieve. Currently, The Oligarchy is expanding into the nearest galaxy, but are finding trouble dislodging the major power in that galaxy.

Nation: The Ascendancy of Tali'Xerica
Tier: 10
Level: 3
Type: 10
Special Notes about your civilization: The Tali'Xericans do not have trans-universal travel (yet) and are not immortal, but otherwise fit the classification of a Tier 10 civilization. Tali'Xerica has united its entire galaxy but has yet to extend to others.

Nation: The Grand Ascendancy of the Union of Celtica
Tier: 6

Any Improvement Suggestions for the Index?: I like it very well, though an additional type between 9 and 10 for complete control of a single galaxy could be useful.

Special Notes about your civilization: Composed mostly of clones and AI, this completely militarized nation was originally founded in U.C. 082 in the Kuiper Belt. Space travel is FTL, with the slowest ship able to travel 150 parsecs in a day. Speeds are constantly increasing as dimensional folding technology improves. Most citizens are Level 0, but a fairly large portion of the population are advanced 'Newtypes' with varying levels of psionic power. A naturally occurring wormhole has been put to practical use, transporting ships instantaneously.

Nation: The Aggregation.
Tier: Tier 9 - Wise Wanderer.
Level: Level 0 - Inept.
Type: Type 9 - Galactic Guardian.
Special Notes about your civilization: The Aggregation is, in reality, an interstellar empire that has been formed by the systematic enslavement, genetic modification, and mental reprogramming of a number of species by a small group of extremely wealthy beings who were originally Human who now call themselves the Aggregate. These beings, genetically modifying themselves to a point where they were hardly recognizable as even being remotely close to Humans to a point where they're practically immortal, with immense mental and physical augmentation to increase their innately flawed mortality. Their sub-species, each of them enslaved and mind-controlled using extremely advanced technology, fits neatly into a niche in their extremely collectivist society - every species is made sterile with a few exceptions, most reproducing through cloning, genetically modified so that their evolutionary strengths are maximized and their evolutionary weaknesses are minimized.

She won't yet guide them all toward the goal of galactic conquest right now, there's too few of them to ensure victory for her goal. Nation: The Empire of Ammerinia
Tier: 8.5
Level: 6.2
Type: 5 - 7
Special Notes about your civilization:
1. While we have effectively implemented FTL, as well as inter-universal travel, and operate nearly one hundred colonies on other planets, we haven't come anywhere near dominating our homeworld yet.
2. Arcane levels are highly disputed, since those gifted with magical powers in Ammerinia have extremely varying degrees of power.

Technology

The Empire of Ermarian falls somewhere between tier 8 and 9. Commonplace technologies include:

* Controlled annihilation as a power source
* Gravitic manipulation (allowing reactionless drives)
* Nanomachine assemblers, both of materials and biological organisms.
* Digital consciousness (both artificial and via brain mapping)

Notable exceptions: No FTL (defined at tier 8 ) nor zero-point energy (tier 9), but travel between universes (tier 10) exists. The technology to blow up a star is theoretically feasible, but has never been built, nor have megastructures.

Magic

All sapient creatures are inherently capable of magic, though their actual power depends on their species, inherited traits, random variation and training. The most powerful species of the Empire are the greater dragons, at level 9.5, but there are only a few of these incredibly powerful creatures in existence. Most species (including humans) are at level 7. This describes the potential of the most powerful members of the species, of course, not the average. Most human practitioners fall anywhere between level 1-5. Wizards of the caliber of Solberg, Padraig, or Garzahd are rare, and a person like Erika Redmark comes along once in a thousand years or more.

Influence

The Empire is the dictionary definition of a type-six civilization, as it controls its singular planet's surface. Some caveats:

- There are some subterranean civilizations whose sovereignty it recognizes.
- It has colonized several worlds in other universes, but it would be impossible to argue that this puts it at type-11. Within its own universe, the Empire has never left its star's gravity well.

Nation: The Medwedian Democratic Federation
Tier: 6
Level: 0
Type: 6
Special Notes about your civilization: Our technology is mixed up. While we have chemical and biological weapons, a large array of ICBM's (REDACTED in total), guns that fire up to 500 bullets in a minute as well as REDACTED and even limited capability to change REDACTED, normal infantry still fights in formations and we still use horses in combat. We use some DELICIOUS WONDERFUL MAGNIFICENT FUNNY execution methods; flogging is a common "mild" punishment.

Anybody who thinks that he can perform magic or is a magician will be executed for Witchcraft.

The Medwedian Democratic Federation has a very strong influence over other nations on the planet, with some scientists predicting that the President of the Medwedian Democratic Federation will become the ruler of the world in no more than 50 years.

Such an artificial distinction does not actually exist in real life, and it won't in this index. If your nation has Tier 8 technology in most civilian applications, but still uses muskets, it's a Tier 8. It simply hasn't applied its Tier 8 tech level to military uses.

Ammerinia wrote:Any Improvement Suggestions for the Index? Let us mix various tiers, or have mid-levels between them, as it will leave out non-conventional tech nations like myself.

The Tiers are guidelines, not rules. As I said, if you feel your national has tech in multiple tiers, just chose the most appropriate one.

by Apiatica
Nation: The Imperial Apian Workers Republic
Tier: 0, Innovation Infant
Level: 1, Telekinetic Teller
Type: 4, Domestic Diplomat
Special Notes about your civilization: I found my civilization rather hard to classify on this scale, since, while progressive in some instances, such as chemistry and compact urbanization, it hasn't found much use for simple machines (such as pulleys, wheels, and balances) or other technologies, while still importing many modern tech elements, such as assault rifles and radios, from abroad. Your classification seems to place more import on domestically produced technologies, however.
Any Improvement Suggestions for the Index? Your civilization index has a bit of a human, technological slant. Other species, such as sky-dwellers, might never need wheels or other simple machines in their civilization, or even a particularly advanced understanding of mathematics. While your magic index does compensate for this, it seems to put technology as the bedrock for society, compared to magic, which in some settings could replace technology as the main source of advancement beyond natural means.
