Don't forget the size of the ammo. Fitting the gun physically won't do you much good if the vehicle can't store sufficient ammo for it.
Purpelia does not reflect my actual world views. In fact, the vast majority of Purpelian cannon is meant to shock and thus deliberately insane. I just like playing with the idea of a country of madmen utterly convinced that everyone else are the barbarians. So play along or not but don't ever think it's for real.

A lot.

To start to consider if it's even worth finding out:
- Turret ring diameter
- Gun mount dimensions
- Gun mount weight capacity (Turret weight too)
- Gun recoil length
- Gun breach dimensions
- Munition dimensions
- Turret internal volume (Including basket)

My bad. I am very tired and exhausted and failed at reading. I am going to go die as soon as I get some free time to do so.

1/2 in steel cable will almost certainly take the roof off of any car or truck available to the public, and it WILL CERTAINLY decapitate whoever is in the vehicle given that i am sure piano wire could do it on a open topped vehicle.

I did not say you could use piano wire.

I know what you meant. I just basically want to pin down the minimum diameter that will be able to withstand the impact.

Basically the idea here is that you stretch wire across a busy highway, ideally at some point in the early morning before the morning rush hour. That way the road will be reasonably empty. The wire is stretched along the ground rather than being high. And when rush hour hits you raise the wire and it starts decapitating a few cars. These than careen out of control and cause a chain collision that kills dozens. But for that to work the wire has to be reasonably light so that I can run across a highway with it safely and so that I can lift it when the time comes.

The wire will flex and stretch so that it goes over the windshield of the car it hits while the windshield will buckle underneath it. To keep the wire under sufficient tensile stress that no further deformation is possible would require some very large apparatuses either side of the road which would look extremely suspicious, and undermine the point of what you're trying to achieve.

Why wasn't the 37mm Pom-Pom ever put on the back of a British tank in WWI? Like, remove lots of the internals and give it a marder-style gunshield with a Pom-Pom in it and you would wreak havoc on any armour you come across.

Well how about we flip it around. The Germans produced their own version of the gun and the British and French had lots of tanks. No idea how many guns the Germans produced though.

I'm just saying, if this is what is possible with commercial of the shelf products, think what could be done if used as smart munitions.

The fellows on TankNet will perpetually preface their penetration figures as "+/- 20mm" or sometimes a percentage.
Sometimes it will not penetrate 95mm at all. Sometimes it will overpenetrate.

This is even in WoT, with a hilariously simplistic +/-50% random dice roll for penetration and damage dealt.

If one lodged a projectile 95mm into a 100mm plate? Depends on the plate, really. Obviously if it's not a high-hardness plate it might fail right there and then, especially if it's brittle from impurity or whatever.
It will certainly be weakened, not that it enormously makes a difference.

Do we require the amount of engine power for a medium-sized aircraft carrier or for restarting a dead planet?

yes, being able to reuse the optical sensor is nice.

but today with slight adjustments, high resolution cell phone cameras can be altered to view infrared light.

cell phone chips can be used as software-defined radios with no modification, although more efficient to use FPGAs.

the processing power of a cell phone is immense.

to reduce the viability of emp warheads, the electronic component could be attachable and typically stored in a faraday crate.

an interesting quote:

https://www.nasa.gov/pdf/635963main_Roc ... -ebook.pdf
At this meeting, Lavochkin’s deputy Chernyakov attempted to report on the
launch results. Kozlov interrupted him. “Here you are boasting that your missiles
reached a speed of 3,700 kilometers per hour. Our missiles already have a speed in
excess of 20,000 kilometers per hour.” Chernyakov understood that technical arguments
were futile. When Malinovskiy appeared, Kozlov scathingly admonished him
for defending the request to continue the projects: “After all, Nikita Sergeyevich
said that this was useless.” The Defense Minister could find no better defense than
the phrase: “The designers misled me.” And so you see, the fate of intercontinental
cruise missiles was decided at such a high governmental level and at such a low scientific
and military technical level.

By the time you make your little drone able to attack tanks without a human operator, you've re-invented BAT. It now costs anywhere from $50-100,000 USD per round.

Congratulation. It's no better than any existing anti-armor PGM, but this was never a surprise in the first place.

no, it's more fragile than BAT, and BAT only appears to work using acoustics and optics? It has no capability of orbiting over an area.

BAT is vulnerable to modern active protection systems.
