For want of HMGs, the Archians had to rely on shitty fucking microcalibers.

For want of real weapons, they lost the war.

A ww2 AP load woulnd't be too different in projectile weight or MV. It could be a bit bit heavier at say 420gram in hwihc a case a rough bit of abuse of the KE equation would give us a MV of about 950-980m/s

KE calc if you don't want to do maths for different loads:

But don't people here use maths and shit to work out how heavy their bullet is and how fast it goes? Isn't that how they work out the performance?

They do but its just really for fine tuning once you have a concept and some ball park data to play with.
They don't actually do much of the math they let the various website calls do the lifting.

With a drawing of your projectile you could easily recreate it in the Geoffrey kobe website and I'm sure aqui will have the density data to let it calculator an actual weight for you.

Of course a lot of the calcs are really for small arm rounds and some can weird or just refuse to play when it comes to cannon ammo.

If you want the precise details that's one thing but if you just want something ballpark to have a rough idea then you can just compare to existing stuff, it will be close enough.

It is my understanding that it is tradition for users of 1950's rifles to accessorize them with as many expensive things as they can find and than post images of this.
Purpelia does not reflect my actual world views. In fact, the vast majority of Purpelian cannon is meant to shock and thus deliberately insane. I just like playing with the idea of a country of madmen utterly convinced that everyone else are the barbarians. So play along or not but don't ever think it's for real.

I bought it and 120 round of stronk.

There wasn't any operator, and nor will there be.

I mean in terms of where does is do poorly. For example, does the wood stock deteriorate over time significantly?

The only thing that I'm thinking of doing to it is giving the wood a nice varnish. Thoughts?

So what should the back end of a 30mm AP projectile from WWI look like? I've googled it but I just get a big mess of different shells from what I assume are all different eras.

Non-detachable, detachable, or "duckbill" magazine?

Albanian ones are worth the most (iirc), Yugoslavian models don't have chrome barrels and have a gas cutoff valve, and Chinese models have spike bayonets. But some have blades.

SKS-M and I think SKS-D take AK mags but can't take clips.

I've got a Norinco "Paratrooper" carbine that takes duckbill mags. It's a little heavy, recoil is comparatively stout, and the trigger pull leaves a bit to be desired but it's a fine rifle.

On relfection it really doesn't mateer what you look at the rear of cannon projectiles are all pretty similar. Most of them just stop and have a flat base like this 6pdr:

http://www.bocn.co.uk/vbforum/attachments/IMG_0870.JPG

its bigger but the overall design of a shot round would be the same on msot small calibre weapons. There are sometiem crimp rigns and things but you get the general theme.

solid steel in most cases likley with just the relevant coloured paint on them. no real jackets as the driving band gripped the rifling.
