I'm curious, how strong is petrified wood? My lore states the most advanced ancient warriors of my tribal nation (as it was before western influences came and, 'assisted' the natives with modernization) used it as armor. Well, to be more accurate it was added into hide holders that would display the petrified wood as a sort of coat of arms and also allowed it to double as armor. It was heavy, but given how I envision the native Kassaran to be the !NotSamoans, I'd figure they'd be able to wear it alongside everything else.

Native creatures on the islands in large enough numbers to hunt are Myssk wolves which are something akin to a rhino-skinned wolf and several native species of boar, many various tropical birds, marine reptiles such as turtles that enter the shallow bays, and then all the other marine life you'd expect an early pacific islander civilization to be hunting. What sort of armor could I be making out of these materials, given that the Puruhkese (a demographic within the native population and also native to one of our home islands of the name 'Puruhk') were the ones I initially saw implementing advanced armors and weapons to the tune of some bronze-studded leather (they have the only above-ground iron-deposits in the isles) and basic bronze weapons.

Wood, rawhide from those wolves, Turtle shells(for shields), and maybe skin from sharks. That is what I would expect in terms of Armour. That petrified wood is not going to work all that well for aforementioned reasons(weight) but also because stone is kinda brittle and has a tendency to split in half when enough force is applied as a result of lack of elasticity.

So petrified wood is a no-go then? I was seeing it as an ornate armor piece, generally them being slabs or whatnot, but yeah, the heavy part makes sense.

Polynesians! Thank you, but on another scope of things I was thinking that the Kassaran had a rather unique history given the diversity of the various islands present. In fact, two of the islands have full on mountain ranges, the Islands of Serafall and Puruhk. Puruhk's mountains were formed as a result of a crater, while Serafall actually had a ridge going through the center. If our stone age was mostly animal hides, our bronze age was just beginning as western societies reached us. In that regard, we had very basic bronze armor, but that was almost all defunct by the firearms of the 16th Century explorers pushing through our waters.

To that point, what are some of the lightest bronze armors available that have that islander feel to them? Do they like, have a specific method of ornate decoration or what not? Were there any islander nations that did even make bronze or would I be pulling inspiration from India and South America for my art styles when it comes to bronze armor?

microcalibers tend to go hand in hand with hyperburst, wich is really difficult to get working in a practical format.

Arch, CEAM came up with a 5.56x22mm or 5.56x30mm conversion, alongside a fucky PDW. The conversion had a magazine that was just soooooooooo rediculously long. Like, godsdamn, did no-one say "why?" at any point in time during development?
(Explains why it was never put into actual use)

There is a "light at the end of the tunnel" though in this case, I found a baller looking Swiss bullpup in some proprietary 5.whatever-mm
