Kassaran wrote:I'm curious, how strong is petrified wood? My lore states the most advanced ancient warriors of my tribal nation (as it was before western influences came and, 'assisted' the natives with modernization) used it as armor. Well, to be more accurate it was added into hide holders that would display the petrified wood as a sort of coat of arms and also allowed it to double as armor. It was heavy, but given how I envision the native Kassaran to be the !NotSamoans, I'd figure they'd be able to wear it alongside everything else.
Native creatures on the islands in large enough numbers to hunt are Myssk wolves which are something akin to a rhino-skinned wolf and several native species of boar, many various tropical birds, marine reptiles such as turtles that enter the shallow bays, and then all the other marine life you'd expect an early pacific islander civilization to be hunting. What sort of armor could I be making out of these materials, given that the Puruhkese (a demographic within the native population and also native to one of our home islands of the name 'Puruhk') were the ones I initially saw implementing advanced armors and weapons to the tune of some bronze-studded leather (they have the only above-ground iron-deposits in the isles) and basic bronze weapons.
