The difference is rather stark, much like the difference between a UAZ-469 and a BRDM-2.

SO, what must I use in an infantry BCT? A Humvee or a Commando?

A Humvee then?

I guess I'll have to up-armor it against IED's.

I know, it must be overwhelming.

The point is you need a vehicle with sufficient passenger and cargo capacity, and pretty much that's it. Typically simple "infantry" formations ride in vehicles that don't excel in either the armor or firepower department. Because of this, they can be made quite light so typically they should have good tactical mobility (relative to wheeled vehicles at least) and also good operational/strategic mobility. An argument could be made towards selecting a vehicle that can carry a huge lot of troops to compensate in a sense for the lack of armor or firepower, but that is up to you.

Apart from IFVs, I would not even bother with squads of 6 or less men (I personally use a 8-man IFV anyways). Your typical Landy/Humvee can carry 8 troops (or 9 for a station wagon-type Humvee w/ central gunner).

LMTV/FMTV-type transporters could probably handle anywhere between 10-20 troops I presume (could use some official numbers).

Remember that you need to not only have enough space for the troops, but also for their gear (rucksacks, weapons, etc.) but you can always use roof racks and/or tie down stuff to the vehicle itself.

Vambraces started to be worn by knights during the transition to full plate armor, so about a thousand years after the ultimate fall of the Roman Empire. They weren't used for the same reason modern soldiers don't wear doorknobs slung off their shoulders. There was no point and they served no purpose.

Although there are a couple exceptions. The one that's coming to mind is the Romans making slaves wear a specific wrist cuff, but I can't get any more detailed than that.

huh, I've never really thought about why I gave them vambraces. I guess the only logical way I could keep them is if I also covered the hand in some way.

Well that was a poop on my part, but I really like the look of them :<
