What are video games? We play games like 'Hurl the Limb-splitter' and 'Scorn the Christian'.
Pro: Odin, axes, loot, raiding, the sea, pillaging, beards, mead.

Anti: Christians, cowards, Saxons, hot weather, a distinct lack of facial hair.

What is the video game industry like in your nation?

Extremely developed and successful. You see, as a MLG nation we could not possibly exist without the gr8est foundation for memes ever in history, or the basic entertainment mechanism for individuals not yet fully transcendent. Even then the eldritch gods enjoy a vidgame now and then.

Does your nation make any domestic consoles or games?

Due to the residue of an autarkic, enclosed economy previously practiced due to our isolationism, the market is still largely dominated by domestically produced consoles and games. Not that others in the multiverse can make better games than we do anyway.

Are any games banned?

No, however, games with poor taste spouting outright hatred and others that would normally go on the banlist usually don't have anyone paying attention to them at all. Hong Kong 97 is probably the only exception so far.

Which franchise or genre is most popular?

Sandboxes, followed by sandbox/open world FPSes.

Naturally, as the successor state to Japan, Korea, and Taiwan, video games is one of the biggest industries in our nation. VR systems are the most popular type of system, with the Nintendo Advanced VR System currently being the top-selling system, with 17.3 million sold since being released in 2054, followed by the Sony PlayStation VR System with 11.6 million sold since 2055. Microsoft's Windows VR system, on the other hand, has only sold around 900k here since 2054.

The popularity of VR systems is followed by handheld gaming, arcades, home consoles, and PC gaming.

While no games are banned on a national level, all games are required by law to be rated by the Game Rating Bureau, which uses the following ratings:
ALL - A game rated ALL is suitable for all ages.
12 - A game rated 12 is suitable for ages 12 and up.
15 - A game rated 15 is suitable for ages 15 and up
R18 - A game rated R18 is restricted to ages 18 and up and it is a criminal offense to sell or give an R18 rated game to a minor.

However, despite no games being banned on a national level, our constituent countries can ban games from sale or ownership. While neither Japan or Taiwan have banned any games, Korea has officially banned the sale of any video games that depict the former Democratic People's Republic of Korea in a positive light. (This has currently only affected the PC game "War of the Fatherland") However, since the ban is merely in regards to the sale of the game within Korea, purchasing the game from either of the two other constituent countries in Aikoland and bringing the game to Korea is perfectly legal.

What is the video game industry like in your nation?
Massive when it comes to sales of games within the nation, non-existent when it comes to actually MAKING video games within the country. Nearly everyone in Derngea (around 85% of the population surveyed) recalls an experience where they played a video game as of 2015.

Does your nation make any domestic consoles or games?
We did make a console of our own in 2003 (that being the "EnCO EGS"). It was very popular, if not more popular than PS/Xbox, but it never got followed-up due to corporatefinancial issues (which is actually rare for companies in Derngea)

Are any games banned?
Any video game that is deemed by the government to feature "content that glorifies brutal, realistic violence outside of context" (war games being an example of "in context", stuff like Mortal Kombat "out of context") and "displays of nudity and situations that serve solely for the purpose of sexual pleasure" will be banned on sight. These games will be repossessed by the police if found in a Derngean home or store, and confiscated by border control if a foreigner arrives at a highway border or airport with these games.
Many CoD clones (Battlefield, Homefront, etc.) are also banned due to copyright infringement concerns; Derngean copyright law is much stricter when it comes to ripping off other's "core ideas" without consent.

Which franchise or genre is most popular?
Derngeans love their motorsports, and as a result, racing games are very popular in the nation. Rhythm games (a la Guitar Hero) are also enjoyed at a similar scale.
Being heavily influenced by Japanese/Korean culture, games based on Anime franchises are also very popular.
The Call of Duty series does have its fans, but it's nowhere near as popular in the nation as other games are.

What is the video game industry like in your nation?
Thriving. Video games are the most popular form of entertainment here, and their production comprises a significant portion of the economy.

Does your nation make any domestic consoles or games?
The Victorian economy designs and produces all games commonly played within Victor's borders. This is for two reasons. One, Victor doesn't rely much on trade, owing to a distrust of other social entities of his own species. Two, a treeclimber "game" needs a variety of special features, not the least of which is extremely high complexity, to remain popular and keep the public's interest. Foreign games tend to fail these requirements.

Are any games banned?
Foreign games, like all foreign media, are subject to review and possible censorship before being widely distributed. However, as there is already such a low demand for imports of this category, banning them has yet to pose much of an issue. Domestic games are never censored - rather, their production is simply halted or redirected as soon as an objectionable quality is discovered by the larger collective.

Which franchise or genre is most popular?
The most popular game, Kintekkin, is in a genre of its own, though like most popular installments, it could broadly be classified as a strategy game. The game can support any number of players (though 2 is most common) and plays as a PVP space-age civilization simulator. The goal of the game is to subdue all competitors - this can be accomplished in one of three ways. One can acquire all information regarding an opposing civ and sufficiently prepare for all possible aggression - the so-called "information victory". One can also attempt to spread the culture of one's own civ to a competitor so completely as to assimilate them - the "cultural victory". Finally, one can set up and execute a kill strike that completely eliminates all traces of the opposing civ - the "military victory".

The game is notable for its difficulty - even small collectives cannot play it optimally, much less individuals. It is also noteworthy for the "hardcore" nature of its playerbase - high-level players require extreme self-control to avoid letting aspects of their strategy seep into Victor's collective consciousness, and they may separate themselves days in advance of important games in order to ruminate and practice without letting their opponents spy on them.

What is the video game industry like in your nation?

Very large and is a major player in economics, the government actively supports development of new games.

Does your nation make any domestic consoles or games?

We have a subsidized console called the "AlGCo GameGirl" initially made to try and introduce more girls to the gaming industry it has since been re-marketed to all demographics. Imported consoles are also extremely common.
The "Hunter" is a handheld game system similar enough to a Nintendo DS to the point DS games may be played on it.
Domestic games include:
Please Note: The Following: an open world sword and sorcery game similar to Skyrim in style, but very different in visuals and story background. Tagline is "Time to write your story".
Citizen Soldiers: a Military Shooter based around the Alexanderian States People's Militia taking part in the 2nd War of New Lithean Aggression, received awards for tackling controversial issues. Tagline is "Don't wait for the heroes".
The Witch & The Priest: Co-op based Action/Adventure game based around an old folk story of a priest that tries to convert a witch instead of killing her as many had tried, while failing he wins her trust. They embark on a quest to save the priest's adopted son who was kidnapped by another power hungry witch. A planned sequel called The Angel & The Demon will have 4-player co-op.
Lady-o-War: Chronicling the first women to serve in Alexanderian Armed Forces, initially planned to be a military shooter but changed to a story line driven action roleplaying game as automatic weapons did not exist at the time women were accepted into the military. Tagline is "Welcome to the boy's club".
CityScape: Using SimCity 4 as a base idea it is a vastly upgraded version to be visually superior and more indepth. Has won the highest number of awards for a domestic simulation game.
Fallen Angels: A military shooter series revolving around the Alexanderian Airborne Special Operations unit "The Archangels". Uses two very popular taglines "Prepare for Angel fall" and "Angels fall first" the latter being the unit's motto.

Are any games banned?
Yes any that fail to receive a rating by the GRB (Game Rating Board), however all may have a chance to appeal at anytime.
Games fail to receive a rating if too graphic or offensive or they are not submitted for rating.

Which franchise or genre is most popular?
Shooters and Action/Adventure games are by far the two most popular genres.
Sandbox and Simulation games bring up third.

What is the video game industry like in your nation?
Of decent size, very innovative, but also relatively new to the market.

Does your nation make any domestic consoles or games?
It makes numerous well-funded game franchises and portable playing consoles.

Are any games banned?
All that feature uncensored nudity.

Which franchise or genre is most popular?
Generally South New Caledonian made first person shooters set on historic battlefields. The "Braybel Company franchise, in which you get to become a soldier fighting for the fascist Takeda regime against communists in Northern Davincia has became very popular recently with milions of copies sold worldwide.

Other than that, there are also many stunning strategy and RTS games, essentially all focused around war. War seems to be the only genre that can survive on the market and compete with foreign products.

Fun facts, the government ever tried to make a propaganda game (or Recruitment tool, whatever) and it's called, Reaper Crew: The Prospects. but it had failed miserably after 2-3 years after the game had been released, due to the devs abandoned the game and no more updates were made on it anymore.
