Despite this, he had a relatively normal childhood, maintaining good grades in school and playing for his town's local football/soccer U-17 club. However, war broke out in Santierra soon after he turned 16. His town, near the border between the capitalist Republic of Santierra and the People's Socialist Union of Santierra, became a battleground between the opposing forces. After 2 of his brothers joined the Republican army, he decided to go with them and fight on the Republic's side. Deployed to the island of San Marcos, he fought in several battles for the Republic. In one of them, he was shot in the chest, and in another, he got a deep gash on his face that remains prominent today. Despite this, he managed to survive the war and was awarded several medals afterwards due to his heroic actions in the Battle of De Manza. He would than enroll in the University of San Blas, and major in international relations and political science. He meet his current wife, Melisa, while at university. He married her and had several children, who would all grow up and have successful lives. Though he found diplomatic work in Santierra while his children were still living with him, he pursued work outside of the country after they all moved out. He was offered a job by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a consul general in Liberty City should the application be accepted.
