Taxes on Religion in your nation

Postby Jeanne la Pucelle » Mon Feb 01, 2010 5:25 pm

In JLP, Religious institutions are not taxed, and are actually funded an annual $6 billion in total from the government.

Registered non-profits aren't taxed, and therefore most organized religions aren't taxed. Some, however, are not registered as non-profits for one reason or another. The Marcevangelista Catholic Church, a large and powerful social entity, has never applied for non-profit status and as such is taxed on its considerable income.

In Toussillon, all religious insitutions are specially taxed, by the amount of registered followers of that religious group and the amount of recruiting which a religious group does. Scientology has a special excise tax, however. In addition, gifts are tax-free; charitable donations and community service are also tax-deductable. Buildings owned by the Church that are declared National Heritage Sites by the Toussillonaise government are cared for by the government and do not apply to property taxes. Here are the tax brackets:
Religious Tax
Micro-Following: 0.5%
Small Following: 0.82%
Medium-sized Following: 1.175%
Large Following: 1.62%
Scientology: 49%

Religious organizations aren't taxed because none exist. And they don't exist because it would fall under the Proselytizing Law.

Illegal to tax religions.

But since $cientology is not a religion, it's a business, and is taxed as a business.

Taxes on religion

Postby Kind Cannibals » Mon Feb 01, 2010 5:59 pm

No taxes shall be imposed upon any religion that proves itself to be eco-minded and does not forcibly push itself on others. Any other type of religion is subject to tax and penalties at the discretion of the Council.

Untaxed. In fact, religious tithes are tax deductible.

Humorously, this has led to a big push from our few atheists to get atheism classified as a religion. They succeeded.

We don't have taxes here, since we don't use money. However, if we did, then we would tax religious institutions which received money.

Religion is not taxed, as the government is considering making a "religion" of sorts to disseminate national ideology, because a taxing institution that taxes itself is also the one that divides by zero.

National temples and festivals of the Roman/Greek mythological faith are funded wholly through the government and/or private liturgy. All religious institutions not affiliated with the state religion must pay a flat tax rate.

All religions must pay a 4% tax, except for Scientology, which is treated as a business, and must pay and 8% tax.
