Newest Ship in the Fleet

After many years of construction and effort to keep it technology at its finest the CV-1 Reichen has been finally completed, the CV-1 Reichen is the first ever aircraft carrier to be built in Maltecna and was built under the purpose of defending its sea and for global operations if need be. No specifications have been released on the capabilities of the Carrier and its defence systems but its expected to be deployed later this month.

Though the ship isn't as large as many others expected its still just for coastal operations and global deployments. It has a compliment of many fighters and it accompanied by a substantially sized fleet to defend itself from threatening pirates and other nations which do not agree with this new ship, due to it being such an important ship any unidentified vessels that approaching it will be ordered to turn back or will be engaged with lethal force. The debt of the ship was paid off over the years that it was being built and the debt was actually just completely paid a few weeks ago. It is expected to leave Port Valuyn in about 4 days other than that there is no other news regarding the military or politics more updates will follow regarding the Carrier.

Wanka moves troops to Volduria

ULM- Wanka has announced the deployment of troops into the Lower Voldurian region in a move that could further destabilize the situation in Casaterra. This comes in light of the hardening of Cornzvich's stand toward refugees, the closing of borders and the movement of troops and national guard units to the Wankan northern border in what the Grawitz administration fears are attempts to pressure Wanka over Cornzvich's claims to Lower Volduria, an economically vital coastal region historically under Cornzvich, whose control would give the landlocked country access to the Gulf of Wanka.

The VII Corps, stationed in the Dreispitzen mountains, will look to guard its frontier with Cornzvich, primarily moving the bulk of the 13th Panzergrenadier Division, formerly the 13th Füsiliers which was the second division to cross the river Weser in the Wankan invasion of Saxony and is as such regarded as one of the elite Wankan military units- a clear sign to Cornzvich that Wanka will not tolerate any more trouble from their northern neighbours. In addition to that, the Home Fleet has been alerted as a destroyer squadron is in the region according to unnamed Defense Ministry officials. Luftflotte 2 will furthermore pick up on air surveillance patrols to monitor the border. While Wanka is likely not to mind the closing of the borders, a job that the government welcomes in face of the exodus of the Wankan intelligentsia, it has resulted in a heated situation which has several times spiralled into violence. The Wankan border guard has complained numerous times of Cornzvich police firing into Wanka to disperse migrants trying to flee the country.

ANCIENT WRITINGS FOUND

Excavation finds collection of volumes from time long passed

Hidden deep in an until-recently-undiscovered royal cellar, locked in a chest which still retains the strength it did thousands of years ago, is the latest in a series of finds which has shocked the world’s archaeological and antiquity professions.

The pages were excavated from a farm just outside of Erus that was previously home to a prince’s private residence some one and a half thousand years ago. How they managed to avoid detection all this time remains a mystery, but the excavation’s historian, Dr. Roger Mortimer, thinks he has an answer.

‘It’s quite possible that the monarchy never intended to look back to its past. When he founded the Olbridge bloodline King Aldert IV sought to wipe away any connection his new family had to the Folcwaldings, Aemen’s previous royal family. It’s entirely plausible in my mind that the Royal House didn’t want to look for threads that still tied them to a time before Aldert.’

We asked Dr. Mortimer what he thought the pages might be. His response was telling of how much it might turn what we know about our past on its head.

‘The pages are marvelously preserved, they were found in a heavy stone box inside the chest that had itself been wrapped in thick parchment paper, so whoever put them in there was intending to keep moisture, air, anything that could decompose the pages, at bay. As for the content… well, we’re not sure.

We’re still deciphering it, it’s a very recent find, however we believe the language to be of Heer origin.’

The Heer were the civilisation that ruled Aemen long before it was a recognised kingdom and is where the Folcwalding family draw their lineage back to. The Aemen capital of Erus also draws its roots from here, as the city is known to have been founded and marked as Heerus. Not much is known, however, about the era that the Heer occupied, due to the lack of records that they left behind.

Dr. Mortimer continued ‘It appears that whoever wrote these was a court historian or priest from the way the handwriting style is accentuated, and we’ve identified several words that refer to great battles, omens and monsters. If men in either of these distinct positions wrote it, then it’s unlikely to be simple fantasy. I expect that they were recording events that actually happened, perhaps with some slight exaggeration to glorify their sovereign. Regardless, I have a feeling this find will completely turn what we know about that time on its head and rewrite the rules for how we view our ancestors.’

Dr. Mortimer’s team are currently deciphering the pages and will publish the first of their findings closer to the end of the year. It’s known the Heer were warriors, preferring to armour themselves up and fight with large swords and spears, and it’s thought that this attitude towards warfare made them one of the dominating forces in the entire region. What could the discovered volumes tell us about them?

CRASNOV PROCLAIMS CONFEDERATION OF WANKA

SPANDAU- With the fifteenth version of the Constitution of the Federal Republic being passed by the state parliaments of Saxony, Prussia, Memel and Pomerania, as well as being accepted with a crushing majority in the nationwide referendum, President Leon Crasnov called the Confederation of Wanka into existence in a passionate speech in the newly declared capital of Spandau on the Havel. The new constitution merged the former Prussian Confederation of Prussia, Memel and Pomerania together with the State of Saxony, who had been given ‘autonomy and self rule’ in the Freiberg-Munster Conference Treaty, signed between the People’s Republic of Wanka, the Chandler Tripartite nations of Sylva, Lendol and Achesia, as well as representatives from the Prussian Confederation. The administration of the People’s Republic of Wanka protested in “strongest terms” the union of Saxony and the Prussian states, stating that there could only ever be “One Wanka”, however stopping short of calling it a breach of the Freiberg-Munster Treaty. The People’s Republic under President Grawitz has so far refused to officially recognise the Confederation as a state, despite it being implied in the Treaty; furthermore, it has by justification of the People’s Republic being the sole sovereign of the Wankan people, said that recognition of the Confederation would result in diplomatic consequences.

The constitution in many ways mirrored that of the 1982 Constitution set out by Meinhof when she founded the Wankan nation, guaranteeing fundamental rights and freedoms, establishing the separation of powers and the creation of the Confederation as a parliamentary democracy with significant power devolved toward its constituent states. It declared all men equal, regardless of gender, race or religious denomination. Federal and state elections were to be called every four years; the sitting Crasnov administration has indicated that the Confederation’s first elections will take place in May next year. Political activity has already quickly picked up ever since Crasnov’s statement that Wanka would return into a full, multi-party democracy last seen under Meinhof’s reign; he has however appealed to the populace to “remain united and vigilant”. Former Zentrum politicians of Sonneborn’s era, as well as key activists, had strongly opposed the implementation of a fully democratic system, arguing that it would divide the new nation at the time it had to stay united to survive, and that the states as a whole, affected by several wars and conflicts and stagnating economies- its GDP per capita has been estimated at $15,000 NSD- was not ready for such a system yet.

Indeed, Leon Crasnov has already stated his intention to run and continue as leader of the new nation, and with leaders of his “Eastern Council” which had successfully led the rebellion- Hermann von Roden and Georg Marov- confirming their inclusion into the Crasnov team, he and his Liberal-Conservative Union (LKU), which consists of the moderate faction and some nationalists of the former ruling Zentrum Party, are predicted to win easily. Nevertheless a challenge could come from the newly formed labor unions who, thanks to the recent rapid growth of industry and urban areas, have grown in importance and number, and who have indicated that they would form their own political party. Then there is the Center Party, led by a coalition of influential Saxons, at its head the current Saxon Minister-President, Bernard von Riesgau. Armed forces Chief of Staff Hasso Röder may also be a possible future candidate. The renowned former Wankan army general (who had defected and reappeared in Prussia following Kronstadt’s crackdown on its own military) who is credited for leading the winter drive which forced the Wankan army and SS troops out of Prussia has been involved in an open dispute with Crasnov, criticising publicly the Minister-Presidents military reform and organization efforts, saying that they effectively “paralysed our ability to defend ourselves and plunging us into a wasteful bureaucratic morass”. The outspoken general has registered wide support of both the population and the military establishment and is well-respected even outside the Confederation’s borders itself, which was why his defection to the Prussians provided Kronstadt with a headache as they quickly tried to diminish his role in the Saxon War and heaping blame on him for causing Wanka’s loss in the war with Gauliscia, an action that had only served to cause wider uproar.

Meanwhile, despite the signing of the Munster-Freiberg Treaty, tensions remain high on the continent. Kronstadt’s diplomats continue to remain at loggerheads with that of Sylva’s over the latters involvement in the Ummayan civil war. Along the border between East and West Wanka, particularly at the Memelian Massif, both sides have been constructing large-scale fortifications and defensive works. The East Wankans have reported that Kronstadt was deploying increased numbers of troops to its Security Zone at Zwickau and responded in kind; and while the border, which runs for a total of over 1,000 kilometres, has been generally quiet, occasional gun battles have been reported with deaths on both sides have been reported.

SPECIAL ELECTION ISSUE: POLITICAL PARTIES AND CANDIDATES

SPANDAU- With the interim government maintaining its intention of holding nationwide elections in early May, just over two months away, the race has been set by the establishment of numerous political blocs and parties which will contest for power in the first free elections since 1993. In the coming months, four hundred seats in the federal parliament will be up for grabs in federal elections, and around 1,500 will be elected to represent their districts in state elections. Here a closer look at the main parties.

Liberal Conservative Union

The LKU, chaired by incumbent President Leon Crasnov, is widely expected to win with his role in leading the rebellion and subsequently successfully negotiating the Confederation’s independence in the Munster-Freiberg Conferences leading to his recognition, along with fellow running mate Hermann von Roden, as one of the “Founding Fathers” of a free Wanka. The pair have increased their public profile in recent weeks, giving speeches and rallying supporters in Reutlingen, Königsberg and Memel City, campaigning on a platform of stimulating economic growth in competition with West Wanka while seeking conciliation and limited trade with the nation he had helped separate from. Crasnov has vowed to continue guiding the country with a steady hand post-secession, dealing with rebuilding and resettling issues as well as refugees who have swarmed into the country. Experience speaks for both von Roden and Crasnov, both ex-Zentrum politicians, having served in public office for several decades each. Crasnov maintains that a strong economy, a strong military capable of deterrence as well as the strengthening of the country’s fledgeling constitution will be essential to the Confederation’s survival.

Crasnov has nevertheless been criticised by former military chief and famed general Hasso Röder for turning East Wanka into a bureaucratic gridlock, highlighting the complex political system that he had put in place as well as alleging cronyism in part of appointments to the military, intelligence and business establishment, along with his “overly dependent” relations with the Chandler Tripartite nations.

Democratic Worker’s Party

The DAP is seen as the main rival to the LKU, led also by experienced civil servants in the form of Guido Meier, the former Pomeranian attorney-general, as well as Georg Marov, current Minister-President for Pomerania and the third “Founding Father” who split due to his “differing views on economic and social policy” with Crasnov’s LKU. Despite its name, it has worked to expand past its power base of the trade unions and urban working class which itself has grown significantly in the past decade and producing the megacities of Königsberg and Mecklenburg of today. The DAP is characterised by its socially-minded economic policy, pledging to “raise the tax on those who can afford it and lower on those who can’t”, as well as improving healthcare and unemployment benefits.

The DAP has come under heavy fire from Röder’s NSEP and the LKU for its stance on looking toward better, closer relations with Wanka, with an eye toward “closer union” and the general demilitarisation of the region, with von Roden saying that the DAP “threatens all what we have fought for and achieved” by virtue of its “pacifist leanings”. The DAP has defended its position, calling itself pragmatic and only working toward the reduction of tensions, and thereby the retaining of peace, whereby it would “not compromise on our ability to defend ourselves.”

Center Party

The Center Party (ZEP), drawing its name from the former ruling party of Sonneborn’s time, is led by current Saxon Minister-President Bernard von Riesgau, he himself credited for the immensely difficult manoeuvring of Saxony, stuck between two hostile powers and a civil war raging to its north, into independence and subsequent union with the Prussian Confederation. Saxony remains in a contentious position with the West, having only granted it “self-rule”, has shown strong opposition to its merger with the Prussian states and the Saxon borders remain as long and vulnerable as never before. Von Riesgau has in the interim immensely strengthened the military capabilities of his forces, which some claim is just a political show, but it had served well in the closely monitored Wankan withdrawal of forces from its bases within Saxony.

The ZEP, headed by members of the influential Saxon elite and former nobility, is limited in its appeal to the two Saxon states, particularly in Lower Saxony with traditional-minded Saxon farmers and its power base in the Seguidorian Saxon community. With similar emphasis on laissez-faire economics to grow the economy, as well as a focus on social conservatism, it will be competing with the LKU for voters and it will be up to von Riesgau to make himself known to the Prussian states in the scheduled mid-March debate with Meier, Crasnov and Röder, as one of the four main parties competing over the entirety of the country.

As one of the two center-right parties with the LKU, the ZEP has been described as more right-leaning particularly as several prominent members have commented on implementing laws on morality, focusing on abortion and the criminalisation of adultery, as well as the reimplementation of the death penalty. The DAP has accused it of advocating un-constitutional ideas such as the restricting of religious liberties, their attitude toward censorship as well as education.

National-Social Unity Party

Retired General Hasso Röder’s NSEP has shot to prominence since its founding last last year, his party characterised for its vibrant and fiery speeches which have drawn crowds in the tens of thousands. Röder, who retired having served over twenty years in the Wankan, and subsequently Confederate army, thus presiding over its entire “modern era”, has proven himself to be a capable and direct orator and is riding global fame and recognition thanks to his achievements in the Saxon War and leading the East Wankan rebellion. He has drawn the ire of the LKU and DAP for his aggressive criticism and attacks, warning that the LKU’s liberal economic policy would make the Confederation “a puppet of the Tripartite nations” and that uncontrolled foreign investment and control of Wankan industries would lead to the exploitation of East Wankan resources. In a speech in Königsberg he accused the DAP of selling out East Wanka and looking to “economically destroy us with impossible communist-era fantasies”. He himself and his party, consisting of a mix of Wankan military and political defectors as well as a coalition of local community leaders have advocated the forging of a “New Wankan identity”, a strong military and government as well as the nationalising of key industries and infrastructure. He has also said that he would “firstly take care of our immediate problems”, promising to eradicate the crime wave that has swept over war-affected areas and continues to be endemic in postwar Saxony, saying that he “wouldn’t hesitate to deploy the military” for such purposes. Foreign policy wise, he has spoken of confronting “the totalitarian autocrats” in the West “wherever possible”.

Critics have pointed that while people would trust him on military-defensive issues, he is the only main candidate without extensive public service experience. Continuing their public feud, LKU head Crasnov has said that Röder’s sounded like he wanted to “impose a military junta”. His foreign origin- entirely from the West- is also likely to speak against him. Röders stance on social issues still remain ambiguous.

Other Parties

While some have applauded Crasnov’s decision to hold elections in May as efficient and transparent, others have pointed to the fact that holding them so soon gives newer and less well-funded parties little time and space to establish themselves. The Wankan Alliance (ALW), a radical left-wing environmental-feminist group, as well as the pro-West Wankan Shahid Social Justice Front (FSJ) have stated that their party lists will not encompass all four hundred seats. The FSJ, suspected of being a puppet of the Shahid-supremacist National Socialist Justice party ruling West Wanka, nevertheless could win seats on account of the large number of Shahid West Wankan migrants clustered in enclaves in major East Wankan cities. Regional parties, like the Dresden Pact (DRE), will also be looking to becoming political forces by contesting state elections, which run on a proportional representation system with a 5% voter threshold.

Presented here are the results of the most extensive polls conducted by the Ostfalische Post to date; however, significant polling difficulties due to the diversity in the East Wankan populace as well as a lack of clarity on the positions of current parties, which will be clarified in the upcoming state and federal debates, mean that party popularity will vary extensively in the coming weeks.

These were organised independently by the parties themselves; for the presidential debate, the main parties with lists for all 80 constituencies (LKU, DAP, NSEP, ZEP) have signed agreements alongside the national TV “Wankan Wave Group”, as well as the Ostfalische Post, to host and cover the debates on not only national but also worldwide stages.

Terrorists Attack!

M.A.T.U Operators standing guard just after the gunfight ended

Just a few Hours ago 4 masked gunmen entered the Kurozig mall and began to fire on civilians. First responders were met with heavy gunfire and a gunfight lasted for up to an hour until Anti-Terrorist operators (M.A.T.U) responded. The Four gunmen were killed and were armed with Assault rifles and even body armor. One of the gunmen had a patch on his shoulder stating ''Death To The Enemy''. The Gunmen's names were released and are at the bottom of the Article. Investigators have discovered that security in the mall was bribed to leave for the day, most likely they were bribed by the gunmen before the massacre started. As of right now M.A.T.U operators are deployed within Kurozig Mall and the Town of Kurozig. 14 People were killed and 7 injured, one of the dead was Mayor Hans which was purchasing toys for his children when he was murdered. The Security guards of the mall which were bribed are being arrested and charged for Association with a terrorist Organization, and are being sentenced to 45 years.

EAST WANKAN PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE: CRASNOV TAKES THE LEAD

SPANDAU- The presidential debate between the four main candidates concluded yesterday, with Leon Crasnov of the Liberal Conservative Union (LKU) pulling ahead in opinion polls. The televised contested ran for over three hours with Crasnov, Guido Meier (DAP), Bernard von Riesgau (ZEP) and Hasso Röder (NSEP) on stage, an event broadcasted across the nation. Moderators were provided by the Wankan Wave Group as well as the Ostfalische Post.

Crasnov remained confident as he hammered home his experience and role that he'd played in East Wankan independence, presenting the LKU as a moderate, inclusive, relatively centrist and pragmatic party. His message of building up and strengthening "New Wanka" resonated well with the audience, and he is widely regarded as being the most capable of leaders to do so. Crasnov pledged to "protect the rights of all Wankans equally, including those not in the Confederation", in what is seen as a reference to Wankans under the rule of Kronstadt in the West. He proposed the establishment of an indigenous military-industrial complex to both improve the Confederation's defensive capabilities as well as stimulate economic growth. His socially conservative views also resonate with much a large chunk of the country's agriculture-based population.

Campaigning on a similar economic and socially center-right position was the Center Party under Saxon Minister-President von Riesgau who however advocated "full privatisation" of the East Wankan economy to "integrate it with world trade", in that way accelerating the country's economic growth. Von Riesgau's Saxon base, as well as his heavily Seguidorian worldview may not speak well for him however, and Guido Meier (Democratic Worker's Party) was quick to critisize him for "representing the interests of the wealthy Saxon elite", noting his ties to the influential Rothman and Gauss families, as well his business conglomeration. Meier's pledge to "expand social services" and "secure the Confederation through diplomacy" was aggressively attacked by both Crasnov and Röder, who described his plans "unrealistic" and "delusional", with Crasnov saying that Meier's plans to raise taxes on the rich would disproportionally affect the fledgeling middle class. Former General Hasso Röder meanwhile had to endure a difficult evening as his inexperience in non-military affairs showed; while he bested the others on defence and foreign policy related matters, both he and Meier were continuously under pressure from Crasnov, who tried to get them to explain how they planned to transform an agriculture-based country into the economic powerhouse East Wanka needed to be to survive.

Experts have called victory for Crasnov, with opinion polls backing this. According to the latest polls, the standings are:

Cheerful comrades! As every proud citizen of the Soodean Imperium knows, today, December 21 of 2016, marks the 29th Anniversary of the eternally shining day in which our dear leader bravely took a stand against the corrupt Menghe regime. It is a story all our comrades know well: faced with treacherous orders to open fire against the crowds of the people gathered to plead for famine relief, our brave Major-General Choe Sŭng-min showed the world his adherence to the supreme principle of justice by instead turning his arms against the tyrannical regime itself. Backed by the righteous crowds of the people, he led the charge against the Old Party Congress, and seized control of the old capital with speed and valor.

Yet what our honorable and selfless Major-General wanted was not personal gain: he acted with the striving needs of the nation in his heart! On the steps of the old building, before people and troops alike, he proclaimed the formation of a new state and government to renew our long-suffering nation and bring it back onto the path of progress. In time, this new state would take on the name of Soodean Imperium, and he would claim the reign name of Su Dou, leading the nation from the front like the Emperors of past times.

Since then, our great country has prospered like at no time ever before. Cities have risen from the ground, steel has poured from the mills, rails have been laid from border to border and the standard of living of the people has climbed without rest. Guided by the principle of supreme justice and backed by the good will of Heaven, Emperor Su Dou and the Soodean Socialist Party have advanced us tirelessly along the path of national development, proclaiming one slogan above all else: “Build up the country!” One by one, poverty, famine, disease, and crime have fallen before the firepower of the Party’s organized front, replaced by joy and pride at the distance we have come.

In the same period, Emperor Su Dou has personally overseen the growth and development of the Soodean Armed Forces, transforming them into a world-class force on par with the leading powers and capable of repelling any foe. Both the National-Anarchists in Maverica and Innominada and the Capitalist Imperialists of the Veldeburg Pact eye our borders with greed and suspicion. But they tremble in their jackboots when we turn our guns toward them, for the Soodean Army and the Imperial Soodean Navy are forever on guard and ready to respond in a heartbeat.

Early this morning, the 29th Anniversary Celebration was held in Chunggyŏngsi, at the same square where our nation was reborn in fire and smoke. The ceremony began in the early hours before sunrise, with a torchlight parade celebrating the new unity of the people and its leaders (pictured). As the sun rose, this was followed by honorary speeches by major leaders, veterans of the Revolution, and at long last the great leader Su Dou himself. Su Dou’s presence and vitality firmly put to rest foreign false rumors that the Emperor is unfit to rule, and demonstrated for all his willingness to tirelessly work for the country even when burdened by illness and age. Also present at the reviewing stand were Kim Pyŏngsŏ, the General-Secretary of the Supreme Council; Kang Yŏng-nam, the Marshal of the Soodean Army; and Ri Hyojin, the Chairman of the National Assembly, as well as other notable officials. In their speeches, they recalled the fire and chaos of the Revolution, and expressed with renewed willpower their determination to keep the country on its upward path and keep the government in its noble state. And we can all rest confidently knowing that as long as our dear Emperor Su Dou lives, and as long as the Soodean Socialist Party stands united behind him, these conditions shall always hold true.

Erquinian Moon rocket E-1 to launch in a month or so, ESP administrators say

Today, administration in the ESP, Erquinian Space Program, have revealed the E-1 moon rocket to the public after a long first half of construction within a rocketry factory within the Amadar Administrative District.

The project has been called a culmination of Erquinian rocketry expertise ever since the Erquinian Space Program started in the 70's, starting with the Towarzysz-1 communications probe in 1975 to now. The project was originally supposed to start in 1996, but Chief Scientist of the project, Marian Rolek, had postponed it for a later date due to his worries about its success, a position he still holds now, but had reluctantly dropped when the higher ups of the space program pushed for it in 2008 due to worries of Erquin being overshadowed by its neighbors.

For Marian, he said he has confidence in the engineering team and his own ability to build such a rocket that could go to the moon, but he is still doubtful. "My superior's aspirations may be our downfall if we are not careful. This project was expensive at the start and it has continued to become more and more expensive as we replace parts due to there being superior parts, completely scrap sections, etcetera." This was what a worried Marian Rolek had to say to us, and for good reason.

The rocket's design is very unconventional, looking more like a 'dart' or 'screw' according to observers and engineers working on the project. Although aerodynamic, there are worries that it may not be structurally sound, especially due to the spaces between its different stages only being held up by crisscrossed struts. However, many engineers on the project have denied such accusations about its supposed questionable structural integrity, saying that it is fine and that it is just as, if not more, capable then the rockets of its competitors.

The rocket is reported to have 43 NK-20 engines (Previously NK-15s)in total and four stages, each with its own different number of stages, until the last stage with only one NK-20 engine, labeled as the "Earth Departure" stage. The rocket stands 105 meters (344 feet) and is 17.0 meters (55.8 feet) in diameter. It is reported to weigh, in total, 2,750,000 kilograms (6,060,000 pounds).

On the very top, the rocket houses a lander for two cosmonauts while there is space for all four cosmonauts that are going to be launched on the rocket. The main section, nicknamed "Pustułka" for its solar panels that look like the wings of a Kestrel, is packed with all the provisions and equipment for the team to complete their mission and survive their journey through space. The main section also contains a fire suppression system, a toilet, a small food preparation area, a small lab, recreation area and sleeping facilitation.

Some believe that the rocket is the production of a useless, expensive venture that is bound to go down in flames, but many are very positive about the outcome, saying that this rocket will put Erquin at odds with that of the Organized State in the space race, aswell as their Sylvan neighbors.

The launch is scheduled to happen somewhere in mid-2017, with adequate preparations and bug fixing happening in the meantime.

PAZ SPACE STATION DESTROYED
After 15 years of service, Paz crashes into Meridian Ocean

Paz, the pride of the Sylvan space program and at one time the largest spacecraft in history, re-entered the atmosphere and fell into the Meridian Ocean today.

The 15-year history of the space station, whose name means “Peace” in Spanish, included collisions, a fire and – back in Septentrion - massive political change, but given that it was originally planned as a five-year mission, the project could be declared a success.

Paz had been launched in 2002 as the first modular space station to be constructed in orbit. Paz represented the next stage in Sylva's space station program at the time of its conception. The first module of the station, known as the core module or base block, was launched in 2002 and followed by six further modules. When complete, the station consisted of seven pressurized modules and several unpressurized components. Power was provided by several photovoltaic arrays attached directly to the modules. The station was maintained at an orbit between 296 km (184 mi) and 421 km (262 mi) altitude and traveled at an average speed of 27,700 km/h (17,200 mph), completing 15.7 orbits per day.

The station was launched as part of Sylva's manned spaceflight program effort to maintain a long-term research outpost in space. As a result, most of the station' occupants were Sylvan; however, through international collaborations, the station was made accessible to space travelers from several other nations. The cost of the Paz program is estimated at $4.2 billion over its lifetime (including development, assembly and orbital operation).

Concerns had been raised over safety on board Paz in February 1997, when a fire in an oxygen generator filled the station with toxic smoke for around 45 minutes. To make matters worse, some of the respirator masks on board were broken, and cosmonauts found that some of the fire extinguishers were fixed to the walls and couldn’t be removed. In April of the same year a cargo vessel collided with the station on docking, piercing the module that contained the living quarters and forcing it to be permanently sealed off. A resultant loss of power from the now redundant solar arrays attached to the module caused Paz to power down and left it drifting in space until repairs could be made. Leaking coolant pipes and constant computer crashes put cosmonauts’ safety further at risk, and in July 2011, announced that the station would be taken out of service in June 2013.

During its 15 years in orbit, Paz broke a number of longevity records. It held the record for the longest continuous human presence in space at 3,644 days – eight days short of ten years. Cosmonaut Andres Aussi still holds the record for the longest single spaceflight in history. He stayed aboard Paz for 437 days and 18 hours. Over two missions Andre spent more than 22 months living aboard the space station.

Paz received a stay of execution as authorities sought alternative funding, but although a privately funded mission in April 2012 looked at the possibility of converting Paz into the first orbital movie studio, Instituto Nacional de Técnica Aeroespacial, Sylva’s space agency, decided instead to devote funding to an unannounced project, which some rumor to be Paz’s successor.

The station burned up in atmosphere before crashing into the Meridian Ocean near the Treville Islands earlier today.

MARACAIBAN ARMY OCCUPIES SPRECK TO “CONTROL THE FIRES”
Massive inferno in facility threatens Spreck, Maraciabo responds

SPRECK, DEM. REP. OF MARACAIBO – Citizens on the outskirts of Spreck are being evacuated by AN military and police forces this morning as the inferno started Sunday night at the Spinelli Refinery continues to burn out of control, a day later. A 32 mph eastern wind last night pushed the flames into the adjoining production fields, and closer to the city as the flames continue to grow in intensity. Nearly sixteen hundred residents of the outer suburbs of Spreck have been ordered by authorities to relocate. Anyone still in this area is advised to leave immediately. Firefighters from neighboring cities are arriving en masse to help combat the fire, which has still not been contained. The blaze’s epicenter or cause has not yet been identified, but no foul-play is yet suspected. There is no word on when the fire is expected to burn out, though initial estimates place the amount of oil burning at nearly three hundred million liters.

This morning, after Allancian fire response services failed to contain the blaze and it crossed the border into the city of Spreck, the Allied Nations military has reportedly deployed a full regiment from A.C.E. (Army Corps of Engineers) along with an adjutant infantry division to assist in the effort. They have reportedly crossed the border into Allancian territory, in what authorities in Brandenburg are calling a “full scale invasion.”

Allancian Royal Oil, which operates the refinery, said that seventeen of its personnel were unaccounted for, but the remaining two hundred are safe and sound, a company spokesperson said. Nevertheless ARO’s stock in the Sylvan markets lost nearly a quarter of it’s value and is still plummeting. The refinery, the largest in the region and considered the flagship facility of that company, was dubbed a model of engineering safety at it’s conception, and has already sparked protest on the lax safety regulations in regard to petrochemicals enforced by the Allancian government.

Tensions have been rising between Allancia and Maracaibo for some time, and experts are worried that the inferno may push the two countries over the edge. For the time being, no hostile action has been reported by either side, but APJ sources on the ground have confirmed that DERMAF forces are constructing “defensive emplacements” while Allancia has reportedly diverted two armored divisions to the northern border.

Low estimates put the number of new troops at 50,000, most deployed to forward operating bases rather than to staging points in the major southern cities. At least three regiments of shock troops have been moved into the region in the last 96 hours, as well as assets not normally seen, including modern multiple rocket launchers and attack helicopters. Chemical dispersion units have also been moved into the region.

The purpose of the buildup is unclear. Though Maracaibo has a weak hold on its southern frontiers, in the past it has undertaken military action when its position appeared weak.

THEOFILUS ANNOUNCES HIS HEIR

His Majesty The Emperor has announced that the one to succeed him upon his passing will be none other than Prince Hugo, the three year old son of Prince Alexander and his wife, former Sylvan royal Mariana Olbridge. Prince Alexander was until recently the king of Aemen, succeeding his father King Reginald II, but he was deposed by the Emperor after a short and chaotic military coup. The Emperor, Prince Alexander's brother who was formerly known as Prince Tavish, has been in power for little over a decade.

The decision was announced this morning by the Chancellor of the Imperial Office. At first, the statement appeared to be about a simple addition to the Emperor's vast list of titles.

The Chancellor said that 'the Emperor, to honour the previously unknown history of our proud nation, will take upon Himself the title of Heir of Hyrian, paying His respects to the heroic exploits depicted in the rediscovered histories of Indridion.'

The Chancellor then continued; 'Furthermore, after reaching unanimity with His brother, HIH Prince Alexander, Emperor Theofilus will bestow the honour of Heir Apparent on HIH Prince Hugo of Aemen, His nephew. The prince will be educated away from Iringvat Palace upon reaching his fifth birthday at an institution of the Emperor's choosing.'

The Imperial Office has not responded to claims for further information, except that 'more will be available in the coming months.'

As we all know, Prince Alexander was placed under house arrest at Iringvat Palace following the coup that deposed him and has continued to be so for almost as long as the Emperor has been on the throne. It's unknown if this means that the two brothers are starting to reconcile after what must have been a turbulent personal time for the pair of them. No doubt all eyes will now be on Prince Hugo, Aemen's new Heir Apparent, as his life in the public spotlight begins.

Government shutdown brought into effect by Radical Party

The Radical party has signed into effect a government shutdown. The Radical Party released a statement to the public: "We serve the Serbian people, we will bring the establishment to it's knees, and we will take the country back for the Serbs." The government shutdown will prevent the Parliament from passing any laws, and national security measures will be taken, including fully mobilizing and deploying all Federal Gendarmes. Federal employees in non-essential ministries/departments will be sent home.

At around 7:00, an army convoy was driving to the city of Knin. Unknown attackers opened fire on the convoy, leaving no survivors. It is rumored the Radical Party has orchestrated this, but no statement has been made yet. The local news has communicated to Zvezda News: 'the city is surrounded, and is being advanced on'.

FEDERAL NAVY CONDUCTS CRIMSON SHIELD 17 EXERCISES

The Federal Navy has begun the 11th annual Crimson Shield Exercises in the Crimson Sea with 42 warships taking part. These included 7 of the 12,000 tonne Type 10 class guided missile destroyers and the aircraft carriers Novgorod and Pormoryugrad. The Navy has said that the exercises allow the navy to train for a wide variety of circumstances from anti piracy operations (and indeed there are two civilian cargo ships involved in the operation designated as "training ships") to large scale naval warfare against inferior, parity and superior foes. Three warships will be sunk by Federal ships and aircraft, all Oliver Hazard Perry class ships that have retired from naval service over the last two years, to allow crews "greater understanding of their weapon systems and capabilities."

Two of Type 10 class destroyers that are participating in the exercises, Admiral Dubasov and Admiral Gorshkov.

This set of exercises is a regular event but never before has the Navy put so many ships into a single exercise. Some defence analysts believe that the primary goal of this years exercises are to determine how capable the new ship classes that are coming into service are against parity powers, hence the involvement of enough ships to split into two large task forces with an aircraft carrier on each side.

It is also quite clear that this is a message to both AEON and the Entente that the Stengorod Pact rules the waves, and with the current Federal Naval shipbuilding plan (Fleet 2030), it will stay that way.

President Sanford, during a visit to Logan Point Air Force Station, laid out a bold new vision for his administration's space policy that includes continuing the Ellsworth Administration's policy of global cooperation and capability building in space, but also allows for a bold new mission by 2035, "Colonization".

Escorted by NASA Administrator, Dr. Alfred Baldwin, the influential figure driving the newly revitalized National Space Council, Sanford toured the home of NASA's Astronaut Training Program. Following the quick tour of the recently renovated facility and meetings with Staff and members of the Astronaut Corps and the Air Force's Space Command, Sanford addressed a crowd that had been gathered in the facility's auditorium.

"Our future..." The President said, "remains in the stars! Humanity's future will not be determined by what goes on in the next decade, but what happens now. We have the capability to turn Science Fiction into Science reality. Under this administration and under Dr. Baldwin's leadership, we will begin the process of sending a mission to return to the Moon, before eventually, moving onto Mars, and after that, placing a permanent Human presence on those two bodies!"

The President's fiery and impassioned speech was met with great exclaim by the crowd, made up primarily of dignitaries from Aerospace Firms, Universities, NASA, and the Department of Defense. Although, the annual NASA appropriations bill has not yet been passed through Congress, drafts of the bill do contain funds for the Agency's "Orion Program", which aims for an eventual return to the Moon, as well as preliminary funding for studies into the long-awaited "Ares Program", aimed at accomplishing a manned mission to the Red Planet sometime in the late 2020s or early 2030s.

Rebels announce the creation of 'Greater Serbia'.

The rebel leader, General Mihailovich, has announced at 8:00 AM that the Provisional Government of Serbia will be reforming into Greater Serbia. The new, unrecognized country has been in combat for roughly a month against the Unified Balkan States. The Army has recently fully mobilized and will soon become fighting-ready. Federal Gendarmes have been completely mobilized and have been deployed to urban areas and rear duties. The underground media in the rebel country has rumored to discovered the Legion has been committing atrocities against Croatians and forcibly resettling Macedonians into more concentrated areas. The Legion have also been rumored to have 'Chetniks', a sort of special forces for the rebels.

4 Hours ago the 2nd Gebirgsjäger Battalion, as well as the 13th Mechanized Infantry Battalion crossed the Border into the UBS to support the Right Leaning Forces within the UBS. The point of the Operation is to ensure a Right Government and to maintain security of the Border with Maltecna. Currently there is little to no Resistance. Currently the 13th Mechanized Infantry are heading for Kotor and will set up a FOB and advance to Beograd for further orders regarding the Operation. In response to the alarming activity of "far right" parties in the former United Balkan States and The Federal Republic of Maltecna, 3 divisions have been deployed to the FSR-Maltechna border: the 2nd Guards Tank Division and the 21st and 35th Motor Rifle Divisions. Along with them comes an unspecified number of air wings and deployment of the S-400 missile system in areas reaching deep into Maltechnan territory.

Chairman Zhukov of the Central Party has taken a hard-line stance, declaring that "any further human rights violations or acts of aggression will be met with serious consequences". What consequences he means exactly are unknown. Despite his history of Isolationist policy, the Chairman has recently made a shift to more interventionist behavior. Much to the annoyance to Southern powers, his leadership has avoided the economic failure they predicted. With the economic issues of the late 90s solved, it seems he is prepared to reinstate the power of the bloc.

This comes amid a serious power struggle between groups in the politburo following Grand General Alexei Vasilev's unexpected death earlier this year. The Chairman has yet to appoint a new General in place of the former Grand General, but is expected to do so later this week. His choice in military command will likely impact foreign policy and the role of the military in internal politics.

Turmburg, Republic of Aleania - The CEO of Rotterdam Heavy Industries Karin Adelmund and the Defence Secretary Maurits Schwarzenberg signed a 8.3 billion OSD contract for the delivery of 300 RMI GVM vehicles and an undisclosed number of RMI's truck systems in Vlatkestad on Saturday. The vehicles will be produced in RMI's factories in Batavia, Kesselburg and Zudijland with the order being completed by 2020. Karin Adelmund said in a statement that "These vehicles will allow soldiers of the United Provinces to better protect their people and their country. We are proud to once again be contracted to provide our top of line hardware and support to customers around the globe."

The deal has been under attack by Anchin rights groups for some time, not only due to the Verpletterant's treatment of the Anchin peoples, but also the fact that the contract originally included an "undisclosed but in double digits" amount of advanced duel 120mm mortar turrets. This was leaked three months ago and since then RMI has had to remove all weapon systems that could be used to shell civilians from the contract due to pressure from the public, media and aforementioned rights groups. However RMI has stated via a spokesperson that it did not believe that the Provincial Army would use those weapon systems in such a way, and that they were removed from the contract due to "budgetary and doctrinal reasons" on the Provincial Army's part and not taken off the table by RMI due to pressure.

The deal has, however, been hailed by several unions due to the creation of more jobs in several major areas of RMI's manufacturing business, but also in several other companies. Zudijland Defence is one such company who's stocks rose by 5.1% following the announcement due to their supply of some of the advanced weapon systems seen on the IFV variants of the GVM. It is believed that the deal will have saved Zudijland Defence's arms plant that employs over 300 workers.
