In Olwe, all marriages are considered open under the law and infidelity (which happens with an average of 3 different side partners in Olwean marriages) is not considered legitimate grounds for divorce (I don't believe in monogamy IRL, so yeah).

Not that marriage is all that common to start with, unless you count the common-law variety... Olwean couples tend to not bother pursuing governmental recognition.

In the USC divorce isn't allowed unless a damn good reason appears (Mainly ligament abuse as Domestic Discipline is allowed and encourage or under grounds of infidelity) and Infidelity is rare due to Godly upbringing and very painful punishments for getting caught. Yes we take our family life and marriages seriously.

There is a legal process to divorce. Infidelity isn't rampant, as the female population is 7 to 1 per man in most provinces, and polygyny is common amongst the middle class and up.

Divorce can be granted in certain circumstances, such as infidelity, domestic abuse, or for financial reasons. One reason could be a spouse causing an excessive financial burden as a result of certain circumstances, such as excessive gambling, drinking, or other one sided behaviors that can result in financial hardships.

Adultery is considered a felony, as it is damaging to the institution of the Krytanian family. According to the books in older times, adultery was a capital offense, however this is no longer on the books in modern times. Instead,it carries a minimum prison sentence of 18 months, and the guilty spouse must forfeit half of whatever inheritances he or she was initially entitled to. Also, after returning to the workforce, the guilty spouse is required to pay 25% of his or her earnings to the other as long as he or she continues to earn pay. If the “other person” can be found by a court of law to have knowingly engaged in an illicit relationship with a person who was known to be married, the same penalties apply. If it is proven that said person was not aware of marital status, in lieu of a prison sentence, monetary damages can be imposed not to exceed half of a month's salary.

Divorce and infidelity are both completely legal in Minoa as long as there is a good reason for it, but infidelity is a valid reason for divorce, along with many other reasons including domestic violence, financial issues, and even boredom.

Divorce is only legal in certain circumstances, such as physical or sexual abuse or infidelity. Infidelity is illegal and the punishment for it is (ironically) the state officially annulling your marriage.

In Kiravia, the dissolution of a marriage requires a demonstration of fault (gōlvut). Marital faults can be either delinquent (ibvâsix) or conditional (télax)

Delinquent faults are failures by a spouse to fulfill their marital duties. These include (but are not limited to) abuse, adultery, neglect, economic nonprovision or negligence, abandonment, substance abuse, and incarceration.

Conditional faults are conditions (rather than actions or failures) that prevent the fulfillment of marital duties. These include impotence/infertility, ethnic or religious differences, serious mental illness, differences in sexual orientation (in a few jurisdictions), and (in one state) egregiously intolerable in-laws.

Once fault is proven, a divorce can be obtained rather quickly.

As, according to Article 41 of the Constitution of Soviet Polsol, families have the right to protection, divorce is normally impossible in Soviet Polsol. Furthermore, the spouses promise to stay together "so long as [they] both shall live" (Rite of Marriage). Section 2 of the Act for Marriages in Soviet Polsol declares "that divorce is forbidden, unless it is necessary for the safety of the children."

Divorce & Infidelity In Your Nation...

Postby Parhe » Sun Aug 02, 2015 11:58 am

Infidelity is only illegal and a permitted cause of divorce if it is proven without question and was specifically stated in the couple's prenuptial agreement as a possible cause for divorce. Otherwise, the government does not get involved.

Divorce itself is fairly easy, and people are allowed to divorce for whatever reason they wish. Generally speaking, items are divided up by whoever owned it before and marriage and who made the money that purchased the items.

That said, divorce is not very acceptable in Parhic society and uncommon as a result, although the great majority of couples are happy in their relationships.

Divorce is rare in our nation.
Since polyamory is legal infidelity is rarely heard of, but our nation's government tends to stay out of the bedroom in general.

Divorces are typically the practice of foreigners. Our people do not practice divorce, marriages are traditionally dissolved when the female kills and eats the male.

Divorces and marriages are handled just like most nations in our real-life world do. Infidelity is not very common, but it has happened enough times to have some legislation on it, allowing the married couple to break up without grants of alimony should there be conclusive evidence of cheating.

The dissolution of a marriage is valid only under certain circumstances, including, but not limited to, adultery, infidelity, cruelty, neglect, and the willful desertion of a partner. All of these circumstances, after the dissolution of the marriage, are valid grounds for the ill-treated partner, or their family, to call for a duel against their former spouse, including by a champion (Who may be family, friend, or hired for the purpose). If the ill-treated partner does not wish to do this however, many of the acts which warrant a divorce, or annulment are also criminal, and social offenses, and require legal punishment. After the dissolution of a marriage, all property owned before the marriage defaults to its previous owner, or their family in the case that they cannot hold it, and all property gained during the marriage is divided by decision of the presiding judge. The former couple's total funds are split with at least half going towards the abused partner, regardless of what percentage of the total income was their earnings, and the offending spouse must refund whatever gifts were provided at the time of marriage by their former partner's family, and the King. Child custody is decided based on the income, and parental fitness of the former partners, with exception to bastard children, whose custody is given to the parent responsible for them. Adulterers, abusers, and spousal deserters, after due punishment is served, are not permitted to remarry to a Wallembergish citizen, but may marry foreigners. Foreign divorcees, regardless of the reason, are not permitted to marry Wallembergish citizens. Due to the importance of maintaining a clean, uncorrupted, and indisputable, but fruitful family tree, noble families generally choose to disinherit, and revoke the property of divorcees, especially adulterers, passing their property directly to their children, to be maintained by their former spouse.

Adultery is illegal, taboo, and highly frowned upon in Wallenbergia. The fate of one who commits such a contemptible act is left in the hands of their victim, and their victim's family, who may choose, as earlier mentioned, to call a duel against them, or may choose the merciful way, and leave them to their punishment. An unmarried person who commits adultery can face up to 3 years in prison, and is expected to pay their victim a sum of 2,500 Rijksdaalern. Two married people who commit adultery with eachother are expected to pay the same compensation for their respective victims, but can serve up to 6 years in prison. Infidelity between cohabitant, but officially unmarried lovers can carry a prison sentence of up to 1 year, and a fine of 1,000 Rijksdaalern. While highly frowned upon, infidelity during courtship, before cohabitance, is not strictly illegal, though it carries numerous social implications.

Divorce and infidelity are legal, and its status is quite high in today's Mattantia, with 66% of marriages ending in divorce, compared to 27% in 1995. This may stem from the K’ampf’ane's extreme desire for sex, the Vargoland people allowing extra-marital affairs, and eastern Mattantians being offsprings of both. Western Mattantians picked up the East's ways after official unity in 2002. Divorce rates have skyrocketed since then.
