Purpelia does not reflect my actual world views. In fact, the vast majority of Purpelian cannon is meant to shock and thus deliberately insane. I just like playing with the idea of a country of madmen utterly convinced that everyone else are the barbarians. So play along or not but don't ever think it's for real.

Does the cartridge matter? A DMR is most often a straight derivative of one's service rifle, oftentimes firing the same ammunition as it, or it may fire a full-power cartridge currently in use for an MMG. Although at that point you're on the fuzzy line between DMRs and dedicated sniper rifles.

Naw.

designated Marksman and DMRs are a squad or platoon level asset. They're job is to engage with accurate, rapid fire at distances to 6-800m.

A sniper is a battalion level asset who's job it is to engage enemy forces outside of there range using precise fire on key targets, preform armed recon operations, or provide mission security.

There tools are entirely dependent upon who is deploying said weapon. The SVD is a DMR when in the hands of a platoon level marksman, and a sniper rifle when in the hand of the battalion level sniper.

A DMR generally, however, should be self loading with either your nations standard rifle cartridge, with a 4-8x area powered magnification optic, and slightly longer bull barrel if possible, or chambered in the standard GPMG round.

Turn them into radio waves and send them into the sky instead.

As noted radio doesn't have that problem.

If the lines are running through enemy territory then there is no way you can guarantee that they don't get cut. You can attempt to hide them, however if you want the lines to be permanent that generally requires permanent structures that are hard to hide.

Land mines, Machine gun positions, 24 hour patrols.

Oh and perhaps a few DO NOT TOUCH Signs. Those always seem to do the trick. Not as much as what i said earlier though.

Try and piggyback as much as you can off civilian infrastructure. Those should be dug underground and generally well protected.

Underground cables are just a bad idea.

You have to dig them into the ground, maintenance is a bitch and you can no longer do damage checks just by walking alongside them. Get a break somewhere and you have 2-12 kilometres of useless rubberised copper under the ground that you can't do anything about.

Radio should be used as supplementary mode of communication, till cable network can be established. *nods*
