Well, yes, but I was more describing the behavior of my own design than setting a precedent for all. This particular projectile masses at seven grams when saboted, and has a muzzle energy of close to five thousand joules when propelled to 1,200 m/s. I don't particularly want to go much higher than that, as both recoil and power draw (equal to muzzle energy times 1/ accelerator efficiency) increase greatly when you add velocity.

While I know that these equations does produce good result with long rod ammo, if you take a look at formula designed to predict the performance of naval guns, you see that velocity is often raised to a power of about 1.2, while mass is often raised to a power that is less than 0.3. Now this likely does not hold true for your specific case (as it was designed for steel projectiles on steel armor, with various fudge factors for the different characteristics of steel), it demonstrates something that generally has been found true for all armor piercing projectiles of modern weapons. High velocity is far more efficient than mass at producing penetration.

I find long rod penetration messy but assuming that you are using appropriate materials, the important factors are length, density, and velocity (hence tungsten or DU based penetrators, "long" rods, and the goal of high velocity in tank guns).

I was never proposing to add mass to the projectile or reduce velocity in order to deal with recoil.I was simply stating that I did not want to increase velocity due to its effects on power draw, recoil energy, weight of the firearm and other factors.

It's constructed incorrectly for being used for grip (and is constructed just incorrectly for anything), and you can't use it to hit anything when the front quillon will hit the target instead.

Look at how you've made it. It has a hook (which you've put on a double edged sword for some reason) but there is a a ring or disk above it, and a gap between both of them. It is far from ergonomic and useful as a hook pommel.

Well for one, someone halfswording is more likely to knee his attacker in the face after using the sword as a crowbar then use the blade or a dagger to stab him in the face, rather than hitting him with his sword's hilt. And look at the crossguard. It's size means you're more likely to hit the target with it than the pommel.

When I was a kid I could actually draw stuff. I mean, faces, bodies that didn't look like lovecraftian monsters and some spooky monsters too. Now I just draw stick figures on the side of my paper while at work.
