HMGs are far from obsolete. Their ability to reach long ranges and supress to said distance, engage and damage/penetrate cover and targets is superior to GPMGs, in addition to having a number of niche roles that other weapons can not really fill.

Using an autocannon would be superfluous or lack range needed due to the theoretically less powder in the shell to save weight, of be too heavy, orlarge if one were to make up said weight. A GPMG is smaller and lighter but lacks engagment ability of an HMG.

The problem is presently there is no real way go use a lot of autocannons to shoot a building without destroying a significant portion of said building with the explosive charge of the round (assuming its HE), and the larger diameter. All rounds damage the building but the HMG will damage it less than, say, a 25mm Bushmaster, but more than a GPMG. And sometimes you don't want to kill the building.

But tbh 40 years ago if you told me that we would have devices that would let us talk to one another the world over from anywhere else in the world I wouldn't have believed you. Similarly I would not have believed we were launching Depleated Uranium darts at over 1200 m/s at things.

Looking at it now, the first version kinda looks like a poor man's L85. It might be because i recyceld the handguard from the normal AKs resulting in a somewhat bulky look, plus the round cut of the carry handle totally not stolen from my NotM16A2. Yeah, laziness sucks.

So, i did this because the internet decided it did not want to work anymore and i was somewhat bored. I'm thinking that its story could be an entry for an armed forces competition that resulted in the victory of another rifle, the FA03A4, but it would later find use in police units, militia units and a few special forces units alike (since some SF units are given great leeway when it comes to choosing the stuff they use, and police officers may acquire and use their own weapons).

Why two safety switches, you ask (or maybe not)? Well, since i was a bit worried about how having your safety/fire selector in the rear of the rifle would affect situations where a quick response is needed, i decided to add another safety switch near the pistol grip: this one would block the trigger bar, preventing it from being pushed. Also, for some reason i decided to put gas regulators in the mix, and the cleaning kit was moved from the stock to the pistol grip (albeit being smaller).

Your images seem to be in jpg format, they're a little artefacted.

First the link bug, and now that? I save images in BMP format (glory to MS Paint) and export them in the same way. Also, for some reason, wiewing the forum in my computer the images seem to be perfectly fine. I sincerily have no idea about what is going on.

Modernized and tacticool versions could be coming shotly. That is, if i find a way to un-screw the image hosting.

I think the furniture's fine. Well, it could use a bit more darkness, but IMO it is good enough indeed.
