It is illegal in Arvenia, as it leads to prison sentence or fine. Death penalty for adultery by decapitation, fussilading, falling and burning had been abolished in 2004.

No official law is in place that criminalizes adultery in Stormwrath. However, Stormwrathian society condemns adultery strongly, some of them even considering it a crime against society.

Strictly illegal. A married woman found guilty of adultery will be put to death, regardless of her station. If the woman is unmarried, both she and her lover will be put to death.

Completely legal and culturally common in the ruling class due to many political marriages.

Adultery is legal, expected, and somewhat encouraged. Involving yourself with multiple sexual partners is considered to be a sign of superior sexual skill. This applies to both men and women, both sexes being encouraged to be promiscuous.

Marriage in Tyrandel better translates into 'breeding contract' or 'parental contract'. Only akaveons actually marry. It is entered into for the purpose of having legal shared parenthood over a child, otherwise parenthood of the child would default to the mother or the State (should the mother be unfit or not want a child). However, is the mother is married then their husband will also be considered the child's parent. Gay marriage exists, largely for these same purposes, but is so far usually limited to adoptions. Marriage in general is considered an alternative to the creches that have developed based off of Dracomorph communal nests. Creches generally have professional caregivers rather than parents, though parents are usually involved. The closest human equivalent would be how children are raised in a kibbutz.

Adultery in Mechanocratic Russia is legal, though there have been moves in the past to criminalise it. However, these have been forwarded mainly by junior ministers in the Lower Senate. The Upper Senate have more common sense, and know that trying to interfere in the bedroom only adds to the already formidable mountain of paperwork that senators have to go through.

That said, this simplistic attitude towards adultery is juxtaposed with the actually-quite-complicated legislation on sexual intercourse itself, but we'll leave that to another thread...

It's legal, although it can be used as grounds for divorce

It is semi-legal. Adultery can only be committed with the spouses' approval. If it is done without the authorization of the partner, the said adultery committer will be fined, as well as being grounds for divorce.

That said, the Imperial government has much higher priorities than managing whatever is going on in the bedroom, so it isn't a surprise that punishment is avoided fairly often.

Adultery was decriminalised in 1987, with the law being entirely repealed in 1995. It is still widely frowned upon, and proof of it is a valid excuse for divorce.

Adultery is not illegal, but if you commit adultery you are usually seen a an untrustworthy person.

Adultery is illegal and carries a civil penalty not a criminal one. Adultery is grounds for non-amicable divorce which means the spouse who was cheated on is eligible for alimony.

Adultery is considered to be the normal state of affairs in Olwe... the law specifically states that all marriages are assumed to be open, and adultery is not legal grounds for divorce (although 'irreconcilable differences' is, and that can cover a pretty broad spectrum of things). Most married Olweans have 2 or 3 lovers on the side... among single Olweans the total number of lovers goes up quite a bit. The Olwean Empress is known to have had more than 100,000 lovers during her lifetime, although naturally she's not still seeing all of them (some of them are long since dead).

We're not supposed to mate with any partner but the one on our breeding permits. Mama really doesn't like that.

[Mama adds: My Children don't really have a concept of "marriage", so adultery as most xenos think of it doesn't really exist among them. My Children's offspring are raised communally, so they don't expect one another to have exclusive mating partners. Most do mate for life, actually, but multiple partners are not uncommon.

That said, to help ensure healthy offspring, I've instituted a breeding permit program among my Children. Two Children desiring to produce offspring are issued a permit if the mating will be healthy (i.e. no genetic mismatches or matings between near relatives, etc.) They're expected to be exclusive sexual partners until the offspring is produced. "Cheating" on one's breeding permit partner is about as close to adultery as my Children can manage. It almost never happens, mainly because in my Children's telepathically linked world it's almost impossible to hide the act. Also, lying to me is one of the few things I don't tolerate. Especially not about subjects as important as the next generation of Children I'll be dependent upon.]

Adultery is illegal in Miraclia, as all sex is illegal. The penalty is the same as for every crime: an 'invitation' to participate in the televised Gladiator Games in the Grand Arena. (But, as always, for the right price, the Big Brother cameras in your room will turn a blind eye.)

What is the status of adultery in your nation?

Illegal, discouraged, and frowned upon.

Is it illegal?

See above.

If it's illegal, what are the penalties for it?

Depends on the situation, but generally one would get 3 years in prison/rehab or 5 years of community service.

Adultery is not illegal in the Empire because the government simply doesn't care. The rich can legally marry up to 5 spouses if they all agree/are bribed (bribery is generally discouraged but the government won't speak of it after the act is done), and have children with multiple spouses without any legal complications. Unless an involved person is anti-government any common citizen who engages in romantic affairs with anti-governmentalists while being aware of their political ideals/crimes, may receive up to 25 years in prison and/or 100,000 hours of community service. Anti-governmentalists have virtually no rights and can be forced into marriages by the rich, high-up members of society.

By the way, to keep from offending anyone, these are all based on the exact opposite of my real life views/ideals.
