Though frowned upon by Ellbonnian society, adultery is not illegal; public shaming of the adulterer(s) is widely accepted as appropriate, however.

Completely Illegal. While the government doesn't care about its citizens sex lives, adultery is punishable by death. As a Catholic country, Eire Agus Albion sees Adultery at the same level as murder, so punishable by death. Eire Agus Albion even let's citizens who kill adulterers off since it isn't illegal to kill them.

Not illegal. You're likely to judged rather harshly for it, but its not a crime.

Completely illegal when you are married already in PRMP. Punishable by fines, jail time and compensation for victims.

Curently the laws regarding adultery are unclear. However in Azurrosian society, most citizens view it negatively.
All NS Stats are canon.

Oh, and I guess you can make up anything else about this nation, like geography and such, based on your own imagination. I don't really plan on writing lore on this nation, at least for now.

In the Armed Forces, adultery is illegal and can lead to significant jail time. For the general public, adultery is technically not illegal, though extremely frowned upon, and a person who attacks or kills the adulterer and their new partner will likely have a jury acquit their case via jury nullification.

Is it illegal?: Yes but not legally criminal, it's a breach of contract according to the divorce laws.
If it's illegal, what are the penalties for it?: Any financial losses from both the marriage and subsequent divorce are bore by the adulterer.

There is no concept of adultery whatsoever in Tangatarehua.

Polygamy has always been legal and considered perfectly normal.

In 2021 the concept of marriage was completely abolished on the grounds that marriage is considered to be an attempt by western colonial powers to impose their values, culture and morality onto Tangatarehua.

In the 30th Century, marriage has been completely separated from the state, and a legal category of marriage (for the most part) no longer exists. Hence, there is no legal status of adultery at all. While cheating on one's partner(s) is considered offensive in of itself (and is by no means encouraged), elected officials caught cheating rarely leaves a dent in their reputation - most people could care less about politicians' personal lives.

Adultery is considered a private affair. It's not illegal and not punisheable. But, is a good reason for divorce.

Over the past three score years, never has Angvar seen a spike so piercing in adultery that the question of adultery has become too much for the state to bear until the Crown has decided it imminent to impose more stringent laws regarding adultery.

In Angvarian law, adultery is taken to be equated with infidelity as both are far from dissimilar to each other, just as polyamory is generally taken to be equated with polygamy, though foreign onlookers do not appear to take the latter very seriously as the former. Said law emphasizes the role of infidelity in cases of adultery wherein it could be used as evidence for the couples' divorce, which is permitted no more than three times per edicts of state.

Unlike in more post-progressive states wherein their governments, having decriminalized adultery, proactively encourages couples to break their marriage contracts by giving knives to each other as wedding gifts (unaware that doing so enables them to lose their trust upon each other no matter one's interpretation of it), Angvar has been substantially cautious if not scrupulous about handling the issue of infidelity while not concerning itself with the private sex lives of its subjects. Angvarian subjects are expected to turn cheating spouses to the military secret police for summary execution, as such crimes are punishable by death or worse, and will already have infidelity towards their own spouses being decriminalized as a casus belli for Angvar's wars.

Its frowned upon in Novosejian society and in extreme cases, it can get even you fired from a job if your a worker and expelled from the military if your a soldier. All in all, don't do it as it provides your both subordinates or superiors a reason to remove you out of the picture and let someone more malleable to their interests take over that position

Postby Rho Ophiuchi » Mon Jun 20, 2022 3:22 am

Hello All,

In Rho Ophiuchi, the legality of adultery depends on the marriage in question. Marriages are simply legal contracts, so most have a provision for adultery, outlining whether it is okay (since some long-term relationships are open), or not okay, and what the penalties for it would be if it is not okay.

These penalties (applied only to the adulterous spouse) are usually some combination of the following:
- Option for immediate termination of the marriage contract by the other party
- Monetary compensation to the other party
- In some circumstances, the contract will be renegotiated after the adultery takes place, and a different decision will be formulated

As the third party in the adulterous interaction was not technically a party to the contract, they cannot be punished for an interaction with consent.

No legal standards for these provisions exist, except for a few basic guidelines for all contracts (i.e. must be written in legible English, you cannot sign away your life, etc.).
Sincerely,
Rho Ophiuchi
