My Liberty won't be taken, (I prefer you change 'liberty' to 'freedom'. I know, wheres' original to that but this line specifically made for 7 syllables)

I hates the Christian nation
and Everything they do,
I hate conversion therapy - (there's 8 syllables here while the line originally for 7. How about change conversion therapy to rehabilation)
and Traditional values too, (there's something wrong here too. But I couldn't put a finger on it.)
I hate the federal government,
Stripping 'way our rights,
I hate the Christian nation, (I find Christian nation [with 5 syllables] is not fitting to replace socialism [which has 4])
Time for States to fight!

I was born here in this nation,

I love my founding fathers and
share their view of rights
Equal men and women rather die poor and free,
Cuz they know what freedom stands for,
No theocracy for me

there's something wrong with this line but I could not put my hand on it

For all the politicians
who think revolt won't brew,
If you take away my freedoms,
My votes won't be for you.

Most American churches (there are thousands of denominations in this country) are moving away from conservative values, so it seems hard for me to see that happening without some major stuff happening first. For starters, most conservatives (even die-hard Tea Partiers and Trumpsters) are not very supportive of conversion therapy; it is more or less an idea with a niche following within the GOP. Your national background story just does not seem very plausible at the moment.

Now, if you were to say that your national background involved the U.S. electing Al Franken and Jill Stein in 2020 and they cut the defense budget and North Korea (or China) slips a nuke into U.S. airspace on board an ICBM and EMPs everything out and society breaks down, then you have some plausible conditions for a religious dictator to talk the military into making him run the show. The only issue is that said dictator will not be Pence; it will probably be someone from within the Department of Defense.

If your flag is just a cross with a giant X over it, then an average observer will probably interpret it as an anti-Christian symbol. You need to use more specific symbolism before other players take it the wrong way in character.

As a side note, you need to work on your spelling and grammar if you want people to enjoy reading your stories and gain respect from older players. When you fail to spellcheck your writing, some people might take it the wrong way and assume that you do not care all that much about creating things that are worth spending the time to read. Not Official: It is a bit spammy, yes. I'd instead put them in the embassy thread as 'spoiler' sections so that those who need them can click/open them. Plus it keeps everything in one place instead of scattered around multiple threads. As to whether it is actually Spam, well, wait for a red name to answer that one.

I don't believe so. In fact, I'm not sure you can then set up another table inside a table, as I recall having tried that myself. But that's the way I'd go if I were to try it; Nest the table code inside that particular column and see what happens. Let us know how it turns out.

A suggestion for countries starting out (or anyone, really), make sure, if you upload a custom flag, that it stands out, and is easily recognizable in areas where it will appear small, like chats!

1)how about after a certain number of citizens the nation unlocks an airport
2)how about players get to decide how many states there are and what the names of those states are after a certain number of citizens

This really should be a thread in Technical but I can tell you right now that neither of your ideas would be implemented.

Why?

For your first suggestion, this game is intended as a political simulator, and airports have nothing to do with that. (Plus you can just use factbooks or the Global Economics and Trade board if you really wanna have an airport)

For your second suggestion, that's what your factbooks are for. The mods and admins have said many, many times over the years that they won't be adding any additional unlockables.

How do you get a custom orthographic projection for a Wikipedia-style factbook?

I edit my own maps (using Paint.net) to look like Wikipedia's orthographics, which means countries are highlighted in dark green or left grey, and borders and oceans are left transparent (borders to a width of ~1 pixel, since I'm using a raster image editor). I think I used the plugin Shape3D last time I tried to turn such a map into a globe but I don't recall it going very well.

So I've come to realize that I've put quite a bit of work into my factbooks, and if my nation ever ceases to exist, I'll lose quite a bit of writing and map-making. Should I be backing all of this up somewhere on the off-chance that I forget about this site/get banned?

While having backups is something I'd recommend you do, even if your nation CTEs or even gets DEATED, you wouldn't lose access to your factbooks, the game doesn't delete those (unless they had rulebreaking stuff in them ofc) and you could still access them.

Copy the raw text (including its BB code) and paste it into a Word document or similar file. It will be easier to edit, and as an added bonus, it will point out spelling and grammar errors so you can correct them as you add to your material. In the long run, this will be your best bet for ensuring that your material is not lost.

As long as the exfactbooks page exists, your factbooks should too. Hope that helps alleviate some panic!
