If they're 15 meters away, I find it relatively unlikely they could quickly and accurately hit someone with a napalm charge from a pistol-sized projector. And at that range, if you can see them pull the weapon out, you stand a good chance of dodging it outright.

Well see first it was <15m, then <10m, and now apparently like six feet away...

Basically what happened was we agreed to roll a dice but instead she decided to cheat the duel and napalm my character in the back with an under-barrel flamethrower that can also double as a pistol.
Why she didn't just shoot a regular pistol blows my mind, but whatever...

Since you weren't looking at the flame, you won't be nearly as blinded.

Once Nuelle took his position back-to-back with her, Aoife whispered over her shoulder."Good luck, Colonel."
She winked at the Brytscop camera, a grin on her face, as one of the guards began to count, holding a watch to ensure his timing was totally accurate.
On the first step, she paced forwards, her bare footstep unusually loud as it crunched into the sand.
On the second, she used her free hand to slowly draw a Tiger Underbarrel attachment from her weapons belt, the noise masked by the sound of her footstep.
On the third step, the moment her feet had landed she twisted back gracefully, her long arm extended, pointing the flamethrower directly at Nuelle's back, who could be no more than six metres away [probably closer] and squeezed the trigger. A two-second jet of napalm-based incendiary spewed towards Nuelle. It was not a prolonged or powerful burst, but the cloying, burning flame had already made short work of two CADI terrorists in Santiago de Cuscatlan and Nuelle was well within range, his back still turned.

If you're not just say, my first offer from way back when stands and you decide to retcon it as never having worked, in which case Nuelle just got a load of pistol rounds to the back of his head.

EDIT = proof. Also please note the range in the instance being discussed was maybe 8m (totally reasonable for an underslung shotgun replacement as I offered) in the kitchen mess of an embassy designed to support 5 staff + guests.

A special forces agent was about to perform a pistol duel with the queen of a sovereign nation, at which point the queen proceeded to draw from her "weapons belt" a "tiger underbarrel attachment" able to spew a continuous jet of napalm over a distance of six meters for two seconds yet light enough to be wielded with one long, graceful arm fully extended, and then proceeded to shoot said special forces agent in the back with all the cliche haughtiness of a cartoon villain.

It was the queen who was challenging people in the first place, the retired (retired at like 36-39) special forces officer replied, inquiring about a gun duel. Queen accepts but picks the terrain and gets to bring an armed entourage (But OOC'ly I was promised it would be settled by a dice roll, which is why I had my character walk into that death trap).
Then queen decides she doesn't like the idea of a Mexican stand-off (or however they duel in Europe), and decides to blast said retired special forces guy with a flamethrower.

But said "underbarrel" attachment was used previously against two paramilitary/parco/vigilante cannon fodder coming in through the back of an embassy, in which case I just assumed it was similar to this: http://www.forgottenweapons.com/suomi-m ... methrower/

Once I had the idea of converting a not!Olympic-class ocean liner to an aircraft carrier in the WWI era; it would continue to serve for a decade or two after that probably.

There's no point from a realistic perspective, is there?

It's not like my region cares about realism very strictly and so I'll probably end up doing it, but this just interests me.

It isn't really a good stand point from realism unless it is just far enough through construction to save time but not far enough through construction that it needs to have large section rebuilt. Even then it will be slower and less efficient than a purpose built carrier. But if you are in a war you need all the hulls you can get.

An ocean liner could be converted (or simply pressed into service) relatively simply as a troop transport - with more work, it could operate as a cargo ship. It may never return to ocean liner, however.

Military and civil ships are designed differently. WWI heavy warships were well-suited (relatively) for conversion to flat-top carriers. Plus, they had a degree of protection, since they were converted warships.
