INTRODUCTION

The Ewacian Federation, also known as Ewa Beach, or simply the Federation, is a modern militaristic state located in the region Judea.

Religion:

The official recognized religion of the Federation is Plynicism, the birth of Plynicism is unknown, but we are researching it daily. Plynicism is the only religion in the Federation, and it is recorded that 100% of Ewacians follow it. It is also known for a fact that Plynicism is only practiced inside the Federation.

Plynicism is a form of Polytheism, in that there are many gods involved. Plynicism contains eight gods. Since the Federation has a close background to Greece, some of these gods are similar or may be the same as those of the Ancient Greek Gods. Out of the eight gods, one is considered to be the most powerful, this is Zeus, the King of the Gods, or the King of the Sky.

Zeus has two brothers, these are Poseidon, God of the Sea, and Hades, God of the Underworld. Other gods are Ares, the God of War, Hera, Queen of the Gods and the Goddess of Marriage and Motherhood, Demeter, Goddess of Fertility, Agriculture, Nature, and the Seasons. Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love, Beauty, and Sexuality. While last but not least, there is Hephaestus, the God of Technology.

There is one sacred text, which is referred to as Theogony, it describes the origins and genealogies of the gods, composed circa 700 BC. It is written in the same artificial dialect of Ancient Greek.

ZEUS:

Zeus is the "Father of Gods and men", according to the Theogony, who ruled the Olympians of Mount Olympus as a father ruled the family; he was the god of sky and thunder in Greek mythology. For the Greeks he was the King of the Gods, who oversaw the universe: as Pausanias observed, "That Zeus is king in heaven is a saying common to all men."

In the Theogony, Zeus assigns the various gods their roles. He is also called the "Father of Gods and men", according to the Theogony. He is the god of sky and thunder, his symbols are the thunderbolt, eagle, bull, and oak. In addition to his Indo-European inheritance, the classical "cloud-gatherer" also derives certain iconographic traits from the cultures of the Ancient Near East, such as the scepter. Zeus is frequently depicted by artists in one of two poses: standing, striding forward, with a thunderbolt leveled in his raised right hand, or seated in majesty.

POSEIDON:

Poseidon is the god of the sea, storms, and, as "Earth-Shaker," of earthquakes. The name of the sea-god Nethuns in Etruscan was adopted in Latin for Neptune in Roman mythology: both were sea gods analogous to Poseidon. Linear B tablets show that Poseidon was venerated at Pylos and Thebes in pre-Olympian Bronze Age Greece, but he was integrated into the Olympian gods as the brother of Zeus and Hades. Poseidon has many children. There is a Homeric hymn to Poseidon, who was the protector of many Ewacian cities.

HADES:

Hades refers to the god of the underworld, or the abode of the dead.

In the Theogony, Hades is the oldest male child of Cronus and Rhea. He and his brothers Zeus and Poseidon defeated the Titans and claimed rulership over the universe ruling the underworld, air, and sea, respectively; the solid earth. Because of his association with the underworld, Hades is often interpreted in modern times as the Grim Reaper, even though he is not.

ARES:

Ares is the god of war, and a member of the Eight Olympians, a son of Zeus and Hera. Though often referred to as the Olympian god of warfare, he is more accurately the god of bloodthirst, or slaughter personified: "Ares is apparently an ancient abstract noun meaning throng of battle, war." He also presides over the weapons of war, the defence and sacking of cities, rebellion and civil order, banditry, manliness and courage.

HERA:

Hera was the wife of Zeus in the Olympian pantheon of classical Plynicism. Her chief function was as the goddess of women and marriage. The cow, and later, the peacock were sacred to her. Hera's mother was Rhea and her father, Cronus.

DEMETER:

Demeter is the goddess of the harvest, who presided over grains, the fertility of the earth, the seasons (personified by the Hours), and the harvest. Though Demeter is often described simply as the goddess of the harvest, she presided also over the sanctity of marriage, the sacred law, and the cycle of life and death. She and her daughter Persephone were the central figures of the Eleusinian Mysteries that also predated the Olympian pantheon.

APHRODITE:

Aphrodite is the goddess of love, beauty, and sexuality. According to Greek poet Hesiod, she was born when Cronus cut off Uranus' genitals and threw them into the sea, and from the aphros arose Aphrodite.

Because of her beauty other gods feared that jealousy would interrupt the peace among them and lead to war, and so Zeus married her to Hephaestus, who was not viewed as a threat. Her unhappiness in marriage caused her to frequently seek out the companionship of her lover Ares. Aphrodite also became instrumental in the Eros and Psyche legend, and later was both Adonis' lover and his surrogate mother.

HEPHAESTUS:

Hephaestus is the son of Zeus and Hera (the King and Queen of the Gods). He was the god of technology, blacksmiths, craftsmen, artisans, sculptors, metals, metallurgy, fire and volcanoes.

Like other smiths but unlike most other gods, Hephaestus was lame, which gave him a grotesque appearance in Greek eyes. He served as the blacksmith of the gods, and he was worshiped in the manufacturing and industrial centers of Ewa Beach, particularly in Plynigrad. Hephaestus's symbols are a smith's hammer, an anvil and a pair of tongs, although sometimes he is portrayed holding an axe.

The Federation has but one official language, which is English. English has been spoken by Ewacians for thousands and thousands of years, and Ewacians won't stop talking english for a long time. Although it is one of the hardest languages to learn out there, and one of the hardest ones to understand, Ewacians understand it completely. The ancient ancestors of the Federation spoke English, the founders of our nation spoke English, and us modern Ewacians speak English.

Although English is the official language, many Ewacians also speak Greek. Ewa Beach has a bit of a Greek influence, most Ewacians come from a Greek background, so it is not suprising that some can speak Greek, as well as English. Greek is the only language to be taught in schools, as well as English to any Judeans who can't speak it. As many Ewacians speak both English and Greek, most of them are essentially bi-lingual.

Government:

The Government of the Federation is a very complicated one, and to understand it, you must understand Plynicism, and proper Ewacian values, which many of you do not. So we will try to explain it as best as possible.

On paper, the government is classified as a Federal, Semi-presidential, Republic, but in reality, it is much, much more than that. The government, much like the population, follows the ideologies and theories of Plynicism. As it is not only a religion, but many other things, which we explain in our Culture section.

STRUCTURE:

The Ewacian Federation is governed by two branches, both deriving their power directly from the Theogony. The Ewacian Government is a fairly complex system of government, as Ewa Beach is a religion-based federal republic with a weak democratic tradition, though we still practice democracy.

The Capital City of Ewa Beach is Vuskow, as this was the place where the Theogony was forged and signed on an unknown date, and the First President's residence. Many government buildings are here, including Buskow Hall (Legislative), The Burgandeer Building (Executive), and several others.

As you can see from above, the Government is run by the Executive Branch, and the Legislative Branch, both with equal powers.

LEGISLATIVE BRANCH:

The legislative branch is made up of the two houses of Congress—the Senate and the House of Representatives. The most important duty of the legislative branch is to make laws. Laws are written, discussed and then denied or approved by the President.

There are 40 senators in the Senate, two from each states. Senators are elected by their states and serve six-year terms. The Vice President of the Federation is considered the head of the Senate, but does not vote in the Senate unless there is a tie. The Senate approves nominations made by the President to the Cabinet, the Supreme Court, federal courts and other posts. The Senate must ratify all treaties by a two-thirds vote.

There are 237 representatives in the House of Representatives. The number of representatives each state gets is based on its population. For example, Huxen has many more representatives than Hushu Island. When Census figures determine that the population of a state has changed significantly, the number of representatives in that state may shift proportionately. Representatives are elected by their states and serve two-year terms. The Speaker of the House, elected by the representatives, is considered the head of the House.

Both parties in the Senate and the House of Representatives elect leaders. The leader of the party that controls the house is called the majority leader. The other party leader is called the minority leader.

EXECUTIVE BRANCH:

The President is the head of the executive branch, which makes laws official. The President is elected by the entire country and then serves as the leader for as long as possible. The President approves and carries out laws proposed by the legislative branch. He appoints or removes cabinet members and officials. He negotiates treaties, and acts as head of state and commander in chief of the armed forces.

The executive branch also includes the Vice President and other officials, such as members of the cabinet. The cabinet is made up of the heads of the 11 major departments of the government. The cabinet gives advice to the President about important matters.

Crime:
You'll notice how crime is almost non-existant in Ewa Beach. We probably have one crime in about every decade, and even that's rare. If you commit a crime in the Federation of Ewa Beach, it is an automatic Death Penalty. No if's, and's, or but's about it. Some times you may be executed right there on the spot, other times you will be brought to a secure location and proceed with your execution. From stealing candy, to mass murders, you will be given the Death Penalty. You will not go to court, you will not get any rights, you will simply die.

Religion:
Although religion doesn't seem like it takes a part in a normal Ewacian's life, it in fact does. The national religion is Plynicism. Now, many of you foreigners do not know what Plynicism is; well, Plynicism is a religion similar in many ways to Christianity, except more violent in some ways. The majority of Ewacian residents are Plynicists.

You would generally see the basic Ewacian as a conservative.

Now, if I were to go more in depth on the ideology of a basic Ewacian, I would say that the basic Ewacian would be a Plynicist, which is in itself a religion and an ideology. I will not go deeply into explaining Plynicism, but I will compare it to other ideologies for the sake of simplicity.

Plynicism, is in a way, similar to both Christianity and Conservatism, yet to an extent it is more 'extreme.' They do not, however, hold all of the views that the basic conservative, or christian would have, and sometimes they will even disagree with the views of said two. For the most part, though, they agree. You have the usual "homosexuals deserve to die," and "we should torture the enemy POW's," along with many other statements that the Ewacian people would believe in. The Ewacian people are a very violent group that you generally don't want to tick off, but for some reason, they tend to be content with life as they stroll down the streets of the nation.

If you are referring to the time period of the 1700's, more specifically the early 1700's, the Colony of Ewa Beach was established by The Republik of Solm, a mighty and powerful nation of it's time. Now, Ewa Beach was just a mere piece of land that was overtaken by the grand Solmian military. It was not a country yet, it did not even have a form of government. Just the local tribes that roamed the land, looking for food, hunting, and so forth.

The Solmians saw this as an opportunity, and they sent an army over to our land, killing and raping the many natives, and as they had killed many of the tribsmen, they quickly claimed the land as their own.

At one point, in mid 1700's, a crisis broke out in the set capital of Ewa City, and the militia made a move against the Solmian military stationed in the city. Due to the massive manpower of the Solmian military, they were quickly destroyed. The battle only lasted two days.

It was only until the late 1700's when we gained our independence, and thus the United States of Ewa Beach was born.
