I was thinking of getting a mix of the 5.56 and the 7.62×39mm to try and get the best of both worlds. :?

Also, I've yet decided on a uniform for my troops.
Looking at my military, can anyone provide any suggestions?

You can have both at same time, but it would more due to institutional inertia at procuring new rifles for the troops, rather than any differences between qualities of the cartridges.

Which uniform? Battle dress? Parade uniform?^^ Cut or Colours Or...?

Battle dress, a parade uniform if you feel like being productive.

Out of the bunch, I most prefer option 3.

Oh, that. I was confused when you said, "bottom feed, with horizontal...."

I feel like it'd be best to have the pan resting atop the weapon because it's probably a bit heavy and I don't want it to have to fight gravity. It'd also be for a pistol cartridge rather than an intermediate because it'd be an early SMG.

From what it sounds like, your nation is Canada-Germany if it were WarPac in terms of terrain and equipment. Canadian and German uniforms are fairly similar in pattern and colouration, with CaDPat having fuller greens and being a bit darker. Just for good measure I'd take the colour distribution of CaDPat and combine it with the patterns of Flecktarn and a dash of SMK, and then lay it on a CaDPat battle dress uniform.

For parade uniform: Gray. Gray all the way. Look at a safari-style uniform made of nyco or something similar, those are comfortable enough for daily wear. For something really ceremonial, add a trench coat/replace the tunic with one, and combine with snazzy CFP 201 drill.

The uniform template is from Tounushi, I just applied the camouflage and made some minor alterations.

Puzikas wrote:Samoz, did you have some question or something about a Soviet Motor rifle squad? I feel asleep typing this and don't remember :P

All of my work with my forces is based upon FM-100-2-3 (US), which is not the most reliable of models, I'm told :P
It's from where I get my breakdown of the Soviet rifle platoon - three sections of seven fighting men, a BMP each and two commanders for the platoon. FM-100-2-3 was written at a time when the BMP-1 was still the dominant vehicle in the Soviet and WarPac inventory, and the structure may have changed entirely.

Its changed so many times between each branch of service in the last ~15 years I really dont know whats normal and whats not anymore.

At the time of my enlistment, the standard Soviet doctrine was still in place for motor rifle squads in BTR-70s and 80s, BMP-1s and BMP-2s. However, as the soviet nature sort of fledged away from my unit, commanders began sort of reorganizing squad, Platoon, and Company structures on the basis that we were "inefficient".

Squad composition went from as described in FM-100-whatever (Which did have some issues; I haven't read it in some time but it certainly was not 100%) to something a bit different.

A standard platoon had two SVD gunners, Two PK gunners and two RPG gunners. The squads no longer had three of four RPGs, one SVD and one PK. It just wasn't necessary to have so many RPG-7s, primarily due to the increased prevalence of disposable launchers like the RPG-18/22 and RPG-26, and the existence of assistants, who could also act as suppression and maneuver elements far better than an RPG-7 gunner could.
The addition of an SVD and a PK was a logical choice, really; it allowed the platoon to engage at further distances, place down more fire, more accurately, while not taking away from the efficiency of normal riflemen.
Not having been Army, however, I am unsure of their organization during this time. I believe it likely retained its organization. The problem with the Soviet organizational system for Squads and Platoons is they felt no obligation to actually deploy the infantry weapons in any cohesive fashion. Sure, there were probably 4 men trained (Well, tasked, pretty much everyone would know how to use it) on the RPG-7, but maybe only one had the RPG-7, and the rest were toting around Kalashnikovs or RPKs. A platoon might have one Sniper assigned to them, but they somehow have three or four.
The modern organizational system is dramatically different since the 2008 reforms and the 2012 re-reforms, im sure. If I had to guess, based on the, among the members of the dismounts, you would find:
-14/15 AK-74Ms with 3 GP-25/GP30 grenade Launchers
-3 RPK-74s
-2 SVDs
-2 RPG-7s
-2 PKM/P Machine Guns
Assuming 23 total dismounts (7 men from each BTR+ MIC & 2IC)

Though I am rather unsure. I dont have any friends still in the Army service; they've all moved to the MVD, FSB, or various special purpose units, or have left the service since that time.

Inferior, weighs more, offers less controability on fully-automatic fire, not as balistically efficient.
