Well obviously. They should be a battalion level asset, after all.

Yes it does.

There is a difference between knowing how to work harden bronze and how make steel, and the process of mixing bronze is very different from the process of reducing iron ore into blooms. Steel was initially a by product of this process, and it wasn't until much later that people worked out how to make mostly pure steel (~400 BC India) or how to increase the amount of steel contained in each bloom.

Now, you might suggest that they could have tried case hardening, since there is literary evidence of this quite early on and it's well known that the Romans case hardened tools. However, to the best of my knowledge, case hardened weapons and armour (to a very limited extent) haven't been found before the renaissance.

I'll issue the STG44's and Lugers to reservists who aren't issued powered armor.

Because guerrilla warfare only works when your opponent has already taken your land. So:
1) It isn't offensive, meaning you can't push your objectives.
2) It will further destroy your infrastructure.
3) You will take more casualties.
4) They can potentially outlast you.

Rhoderberg wrote:So, IDT, give me one good reason why I shouldn't make every future infantryman a GPMG gunner.

Because a GPMG lays down covering fire. You need someone to advance and maneuver.

But Padnak, the M202s are mounted on the armor itself.

What prevents a GPMG from advancing or maneuvering, though?

Especially if said GPMG operators are equipped with powered armor.

Good thing the people here think things through.
I was getting a little worried there after the GPMG question.

Truth be told, I value snipers and other marksmen well over machine gunners. And I love unconventional warfare.
Sadly, the aforementioned idea of mine is one I have thought through many times, and it is simply not possible/practical.

Imagine a literal wall of suppressing fire.

Then you have the Tsavoniches Heer, circa 2200.
