Yup. They recently found a 700 year old skeleton with a cut to the skull characteristic of a sword. This wasn't in the Top End, either, but much further south.

If you have everything worth looting, they'll loot you every chance they get. They will get bronze weapons, or else bronze that can be turned into weapons, that way.

Yes they would, and they do. But usually not with much success. And bronze isn't the best loot there is; ingots are heavy and manufactured items don't have a long working life without the skill to repair them.

Steel is typically used for door hinges and inkwells. The non-corrosive property of steel makes it ideal to hold ink (because ink is slightly corrosive but stays in the same place for a long time), and its resilience primed for holding doors in place.

Bronze is durable, more so than the iron (and realistically you'll only have accidental steel during this time period), and far more corrosion resistant than iron or steel. In fact, the only way in which bronze is inferior to iron or the early very low grade steel is the price, which is more expensive.
