There's no need to issue them since they should already own them. Smartphones, which are a GPS, radio, and PDA all in one, are so affordable and readily available that even people in third world countries with relatively low income can afford them.

What you could do is have it be mandated that members of your armed forces own a smartphone or just have smartphone ownership be a requirement for joining.

Why is it that for side loading rifles everyone says to put the magazine well on the right side of the weapon, but most real world examples have it on the left?

I have broken two iPhones through simply having them in pocket during work. I can only assume that I'm too hot for them and/or jumping down from a 1 metre height is enough to damage them. The only time I'd issue them is if I was in charge of supplying enemy soldiers.

I've planned on issuing Monochrome flip-phones. It would basically copy the the mulit-purpose nature of smart phones in a more energy efficient and durable manner. But of course other smart phones and modern-asian flip phones are available but must be verified for field use.

Now I just need to draw some sort of drum magazine that I can be happy with.

Nice, I developed a few of my own guns, although they are a mix and match with other existing rifle platforms.

The top one is the final product, the bottom one is the unfinished version with a PMAG for scale.

Chambered in 5.56x45mm and utilizes a Delayed Roller Locking system. Who needs a dust cover when you have the most reliable gas operating system available? lol

Oh it isn't big enough to hold all that. I have a separate wallet to hold most of my money, cards, etc. The phone-wallet only holds a few folded bills and a single card.

That way, even if my phone or wallet is stolen I won't lose everything.

The Delayed Roller Locking System utilizes blowback from a cartridge to cycle the system. So there's no gas tube or piston needed. It's the very same system the HK-91 operates. When was the last time you heard about a legitimate HK-91 breaking down after being fed thousands and thousands of round?

Then it doesn't have a gas operating system. Roller locked is all fine and good, but I've never heard that it's any better or worse than a proper gas operated weapon.

I generally call them rocket jockeys or "rocketjocks" for short.
