Also how do you distinguish snipers and marksmen? That's definitely a sniper rifle rather than a DMR.

Alrighty then, sniper rifle got it.

Alright, thought there was still a place for bolt rifles in a squad setting, guess I'm not correct.

I can go with semi-automatic but not the other one.

Bolt actions are only viable on sniper rifles. You don't want them in your infantry because your infantry are all about suppression, and a bolt action can't keep up.

Thats why the French issue two bolt-action sniper rifles to their designated marksmen at the platoon level rite.

Can you use a bolt action to suppress? Yes. Is it as efficient as a semi or full auto? No.

Well, British marksmen in Afghanistan were issued the 7.62x51mm AW (L96A1) while British snipers are traditionally issued the .338LM AWSM (L115A3).
Marksmen are now issued the L129A1 rifle, which is basically an AR-10 with a 1.5-6x scope.

I'm pretty sure no one gave all their infantry automatic rifles back then. A single modern infantryman has more firepower than a whole squad in WWII.

Alright, perhaps I could issue the arctic warfare as a DMR and use the Barret M82 or PGM Hécate II as a sniper/anti-materiel rifle instead?

AM rifle? Yes. It's a little over-capable (and overweight) for sniper use except specialist circumstances.

For a DMR just give your service rifle a scope, bipod and longer barrel

Yeah maybe when you compare a modern US soldier to a WW2 British soldier.

A US infantry squad in WW2 could actually be effective in combat against a modern squad since a US squad in WW2 is going to have 3-6 BARs and a bunch of semi-automatic M1 Garands.

Much better than like 2 BRENs and a bunch of hurr enfields.

All it takes is one modern soldier with an M249 and the WWII squad is pinned because they can't match it even if they all start firing. And it's silly to think a WWII squad can do anything to a group of soldiers who each have an infinitely better BAR unless they get the drop on them, especially since modern infantrymen have far better training.

Weight only means so much.

The BAR looks and most likely was a generally overall better weapon ergonomically than the BREN, which took a massive shit on ergonomics.

When you can't properly settle your face on your weapon to fire, plus have a massive derpy magazine sticking out the top, more than likely won't be that infantry friendly.
