As oppsed to...what, the round the M16 is currently chambered in? 5.56x45mm NATO?

I thought it was chambered into 7.62mm with the M16A2, but then again I know next to nothing about anything after WWII except tanks, and even then I lose interest once the current MBT generation comes into play during the 80s.

Because it was easy and cheap to slap a GPS into the radio/data sender that each soldier got. If only so high command could track down wayward soldiers on exercise. A little tweaking and you essentially have a battlefield PDA/smartphone. The Army even makes games you can play on them. No one does though because they are shit.

The tablet version is just so officers can do mapping better.

Nah, the M16 series is chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO across the board. The AR-10 is a similar design to the AR-15, which is the basis of which the M16 as developed from, and is chambered in the full powered 7.62x51mm NATO/.308 Winchester. The M16A2 is a modification or the original M16 and M16A1 series with a thicker barrel at the frontal end, new rear adjustable sights, new hand guard, new flash suppressor, lengthened buttstock, change in pistol grip, and a few other modifications.

The M16 was always and msot likely always will be 5.56mm

You are thinking of the AR-10 which was shrunk and improved to make the AR-15 which was adopted for service as the M16.

Or possibly one of the many Third party 7.62mm NATO ARs: some of which are scaled up AR-15s, some take more heritage from the older AR-10 and a few kind of go thier own way in the middle.

Purpelia wrote:What is the smallest possible small arm cartridge?

In terms of caliber I'd probably name the 3x47mm FA Exp. I understand, however, that it had a tendency to disintegrate in the barrel. The smallest practical cartridge I can think of would have to be either the 4,5mm MKR or the 4mm CETME.

Pretty much as SoH said. You've already got a smartphone type deal. It really wouldn't be any more to make use of the inbuilt GPS. Too, it may help to have multiple morons with maps, instead of the one.

Probably laughed more than I should have.

I wanted to avoid the "dark grey pistol with a dark grey grip" theme with the Tauxie, so I tried a cream grip, but it just looks like shit.
I don't really know what to do with it now. Halp pls.

You only really need a few bars when facing a rapier. A few will prevent cuts the the hand whereas you can have an many as you like and it won't stop a thrust.

this is a professional industrially-manufactured electromagnetic weapon not a toy power drill

also, yellow is a terrible colour for large solid-colour blocks on high-tech things that aren't kids' toys. it works as trim or with trim, but the Tauxie's grip is all one piece.

I get the feeling you're not taking this very seriously

Maybe I'll add some trim so I can use bright colours without it looking stupid.

You do realize that this weapon's very first model rolled out of a zero-G manufacturing lab in August 2357? Hardly MT.
