Unfortunately Arch, that's one of the problems with the thread is nobody reads infantry sperg stuff ; _ ;

So you're just doing fire-and-maneuver with 15 man sections/squads?

There's no real problem with any of it, aside from 45-60 men companies being really small.

Yeah the guy who supposedly marched into battle playing bagpipes and carrying a longbow and sword sure knew what he was talking about.

I think it doesn't matter, if company is meant to act like an overgrown platoon, rather than comtemporary company. :P

In a nutshell.

While officers are expected to initiate charges, or discipline deserters, they rarely engage in combat.

Probably. I don't know. I just like the thought of an officer leading a bayonet charge with sword in hand.

Estovnia wrote:Unfortunately Arch, that's one of the problems with the thread is nobody reads infantry sperg stuff ; _ ;

I've noticed. Worse still, I feel my ideas are far to stupid/trifling to bring to the MilReal thread.

So you're just doing fire-and-maneuver with 15 man sections/squads?

More or less.

There's no real problem with any of it, aside from 45-60 men companies being really small.

It's seventy-five ratmen plus, though. That said, I think you're right. I'm probably going to end up tripling the size of the rifle platoons. That'd put a company up to 176-180 ratmen in all.

Yeah I just saw "3-5" so I just multiplied by 15 without taking into account the other platoon sizes

75 men is fine. You're just going to have a lot more of subunits in say, a brigade, or battalion which may reduce the overall effectiveness.

Edit: it would be more spergy if i could fit if https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/169 ... ia/BCT.png this would fit without making the page poop :c

Eh, either way. Too, I figure having massive rifle platoons better fits with the idea that they're largely disposable bullet sponges who's main purpose is to outlast the enemy's rifle platoon.

As for overall effectiveness, there's meant to be a goodly bit of inefficiency and political/bureaucratic muddahfukkery in the higher ranks. I'm going for a bit of a Stalinist Red Army type deal.

Hi everyone,

Based on my total number of personel in the Army, how many Divisions can I field? I'd prefer a means to calculate it so if I have to change my nation's Armed Forces size I can reaculculate the number of divisions.

Then you should keep the current layout. Nothing screams inefficiency like have 8 companies in a battalion :DD

I should've clarified. By "sperg" I meant thinly hiding my own sexual shortcomings by trying to make my military seem rly OP.

This is not a number that you could or really should try to extrapolate from your total personnel, since anything up to half of those men will not be fighting men, many of them not in fighting forces.

Speaking of swords, I might have my model of Cherusker sword be used by Germanic mercernaries. That way the shorter cleaving swords could be used by Fordorsian pikemen instead of one replacing the other.

Its rocket motor burns out in the tube, so it acts like a recoilless rifle. The sheer bulk of both the launcher and ammunition also lend credence to this. It's only a 105mm.

Alright. I never saw one fire before, so I just figured it worked the same way as other rocket launchers.
