To post pictures of swords and sword-related banter.

They're literally the same gun.

The only difference is how much elan your soldiers get as a modifier when rolling your d20

I'm asking under the unrealistic assumption that we're just talking infantry-to-infantry. I know that small-arms don't matter in the long run, but I would like to hear an expert's opinion on the respective firearms. I'm under the assumption that this is the infantry discussion thread, yes?

So long as it's a quasi-reliable self-loading rifle, then no impact.

I suppose it goes without saying that I find this pretty nice. It certainly is an ugly bastard, but it also has a sort of beauty to it.

So,
I've been thinking a squidge more on Skaven infantry. Firstly I've decided to push infantry tactics, and technology to an extent, back further towards the Eerste Werldoorlog. This is done largely for stylistic purposes, and to illustrate a societal preference for political conformity over tactical and technological innovation. There are, of course, a few exceptions, by those mostly manifest in the armoured and sky corps.

Anyway. . . I was thinking that, due in part to a reliance on reliance on overwhelming numbers and a strong preference for attrition warfare, the smallest infantry unit commonly deployed would be the company. Said companies would consist of three to five rifle platoons, one to two grenadier platoons and a command platoon. This would in turn be bolstered, depending on the relationship between the company CO and that of the Artillery Regiment, with machine gun and or mortar platoons.

Each rile platoon will consist of ten to fifteen rat-men, each with a self loading rifle and sword bayonet, with the exception of the platoon IC and 2IC, who carry a sword and pistol and a machine carbine respectively. The rifle platoon's primary purpose is to provide suppressive fire and a diversion for the grenadier platoon(s).

Grenadier platoons are broadly similar in layout to rifle platoons. Notable differences, however, include better training and equipment. Unlike their rifle toting brethren, grenadiers are equipped with automatic carbines, light machine guns and grenade launchers. They serve, fairly obviously, as shock troopers.

I'll probably do a command platoon later. It consists largely of officers, commissars and messengers though. Also a driver. Can't have the higher ups walking, eh?

It's not that I'm too lazy to do it. It's that it's a bad sword design that doesn't interest me. I can't really draw it in my own style ifI don't know what to do with it.

Would there be any possible way to have a modern 7.92mm or 13mm round? I've heard of shrinking the casing of a 7.92mm round to make it a 7.62mm round. Could it maybe be done in the opposite way to make a 7.62mm round into a 7.92mm round, and likewise a 12.7mm (.5in/50cal) round into a 13mm round?

There is absolutely no reason why you would not be able to do that. Just like there is no reason why not to just stick to using the old 7.92. IIRC there are real world nations that do it.
Purpelia does not reflect my actual world views. In fact, the vast majority of Purpelian cannon is meant to shock and thus deliberately insane. I just like playing with the idea of a country of madmen utterly convinced that everyone else are the barbarians. So play along or not but don't ever think it's for real.
