Energy shielding is good for whatever the author says it is good for. It is featured in a great deal of sci-fi, and has varying properties depending on what sci-fi universe it is in.

Most sci-fi creators know that energy shielding is probably not very practical and real life, and guess what, they don't give a shit. Imposing limitations on creativity is detrimental.

If I have an idea I like, I'm going to use it. I'm not going to go read a bloody physics textbook to see if it would work, because that's stupid.

Think of what kind of technology we could come up with, given 5 billions years. We could not possibly comprehend it. It's not unreasonable for a race that manufactures planets or even entire galaxies given enough time. Have you never heard of the Kardashev Scale? A IV on that scale would be seen practically as omnipotent gods, according to the Wikipedia definitions. The UNE is a 3.5 on that scale, roughly.

Chambered in a proprietary 7.5x38mm Kurzpatrone. 8.5 gram projectile at 770 m/s. it had a rate of fire of 700 rounds/minute from a 30 round box magazine, barrel of 500mm length and OAL of 945mm, weight 4.2kg/4.95kg loaded.

The StG52 improved over the original StG-51 by addition of a compensator/flash suppressor, change in bipod mounting, and a folding stock.

There are many other people on NS that seem to me would appreciate your ideas but these types of threads are heavily focussed on realism.

Future Tech or fantasy tech doesn't mix well with that.

Sorry for getting steamed, but I don't like getting told that not doing things someone else's way is the wrong way. This nation is not just a game for me, like I said earlier, I didn't make it for this site. It exists outside of the site, and I created it long before I started playing NationStates. It's part of my own personal universe, which I develop through my art, and it's basically my whole life.

So you can imagine why being told I'm 'doing it wrong' would piss me off.

Been reading about the most awesome rifle of the 50's ever, the SG 510 and I ran into this line: "The butt-stock and hand guard of the rifle are rubberized for comfort and durability and the front hand guard is ribbed to provide a better grip."

What does that mean, rubberized? Is it just a fancy way of saying that the thing had rubber glued onto it or something?
