JG scale. Template was modern soldiers, Portuguese army.

Still playing around with it and whatnot. It's been a while since I touched anything beyond flags and maps.

I decided to draw some East German domestic AKs.

I'm not 100% sold on the stock, as the main image I used was on an angle (and the few other images I found that weren't fixed stock had the stock folded), so I will probably be redoing it later today or tomorrow

Study pictures of real tanks to get an idea for scaling and proportion of the various components, and try and find out what the parts are actually for to avoid drawing things that don't make sense.

Like the cylindrical part on tank barrels, I learned that's actually a part of open-breech designs which was something I obviously didn't know before I tried to begin designing a tank.

Someone around here has a track template. Definitely use that. Tracks are by far one of the most annoying things to draw (and get right) and no one will blame you at all for copy-pasting that crap.

Both; why have one elite group when you can get the best from both? White soldier, Arab insurgents, Asian native warriors, persecuted mixed citizens, all are welcome in a no-man's rebel army

As long as they don't mind using FAL's.

I know that most people are doing military stuff and sometimes economic stuff for their companies... but I thought I'd put these here. I made my leader and his wife I'm not the best digital artist ever but I think it's alright for only having paint.net at my disposal (need to download photoshop CS2, heard it's free). Their names are Loryn and Andraste Marchan.

They look good. Think you're anatomywise on the right track. And yes, Photoshop CS2 is free on the official Adobe Website. Do you created them with mouse or drawing pad?

Sorry this is a bit late - I made em with a mouse. I took a template and traced over it for the anatomy, I really pieced Andraste's face together from other stuff, and gave em clothes Explains Loryn's awful pose, doesn't it. So not much more advanced than JG way of doing things, just a larger scale lol

You must be very out of shape if you think walking a hundred or two hundred yards a bit hunched over will tire you out. There is no speed difference when standing up straight or hunched over in a testudo. Think about it, which would you rather do as the front row of a testudo, hunch slightly so you can cover more of you body with your shield with no negative effects, or stand up straight with either your legs or face completely exposed for no good reason?

You'll need to be more than "a bit hunched over" to fit completely behind a meter-high shield.

For the record, George Orwell recounts early in The Road to Wigan Pier the experience of walking a few hundred meters heavily hunched-over (probably comparable to the soldiers pictured above) from a mining elevator elevator to the coal face. From his experience he claims it was many times more exhausting than walking, especially for the back and thighs, and possibly the most excruciating part of contemporary coal mine labor.

Absolutely, but I didn't mean hunched over enough to cover your entire body, only enough to cover a considerable amount more than if you were standing straight up.
