Wouldn't that be considered a Matriarchy or a nation where both genders are equal? Just sayin'.

Charges =/= in charge of. Means the women are the charge of their fathers/husbands- essentially equating them to property.

As for Obzedat? Vaguely matriarchal, due to the women being twice the size of men. :L. Reptilian biology, for the win. But there's mostly an air of equality- given, more or less, the exact same build of the two sexes.

Are you sure? Because WE'RE Reptiles, and the males are usually bigger than the females, even if the female's big and strong.

patriarchal, even if women today are allowed to both have their own jobs and inherit their fathers titles so are there still much a woman can´t do in the modern federation. They may not; join the military, the police or the fire fighters and a woman may never be crowned king nor may the queen rule the federation as its sole ruler.

Neither. In Illithar both genders are equal.

When a couple marries, both partners take the other's last name, the only decision being which name is the 'family name' and inherited by the children.

For example: Jamz Takaji marries Lia Rial. They agree that Takaji will be the family name. So Jamz Takaji becomes Jamz ti'Rial ni'Takaji and Lia Rial becomes Lia ni'Rial ti'Takaji. The ni' means 'from' and the ti' means 'to'.

Let's say Jamz and Lia have a son, Kylar. Kylar is born Kylar Takaji. The same goes for a daughter, Elina. She is born Elina Takaji.

Kylar might marry a girl named Rakel Shimiza and they decide that Shimiza will be the 'family name'. So Kylar becomes Kylar ni'Takaji ti'Shimiza. The woman might take the man's last name (Lia ni'Rial ti'Takaji) or the man might take the woman's (Kylar ni'Takaji ti'Shimiza). The only exception is the Imperial family. Anyone marrying into the Imperial family takes that last name.

Both men and women are given equal representation in our nation. Matriarchy and Patriarchy are both flawed systems of government, and only create further inequality and seperation in society.

We have no hierarchies. While there may be some unofficial social hierarchies, it is no place for any government to decide.
Quick and dirty guide to factions in Mediterranea, and puppets to serve as examples:
-Free Assembly - decentralized group of local associations. Main faction.
-Workers' Republic - anarcho-syndicalist commune
-República Morsica (Betico)
-Republic of Lusca
-Catholic State (The Archbishop of Siraucsa)

Woops! Looks like we made a mistake, we meant "Better looking" instead of "Sexier" which is a term we don't use all that often. Oh well, fixed.

Neither, but if we had to chose one it would be a bit more patriarchal than matriarchal. Within families decisions are made jointly by the husband and wife. Religious matters can be settled by either men or women and memebers of both sexes can become priests and preachers but only about 3% of Rashtran priests and 1% of Rashtran preachers are women. However, bout 42% of government officials are women and the Living Goddess is the source of legal decisions and the keeper of the Constitution.

Absolutely patriarchal. Women are there to work, be raped, discipline children and care about them, bring 'em to schools and smack them, to clean the house etc. While men are there to fight in the wars and to be heads of the family, to rule it by the iron fist.

Certainly a matriarchy.

Postby Piricia » Fri Aug 07, 2020 9:42 pm

Piricia is ridiculously matriarchal. Men have literally no rights whatsoever and their only purpose is to enter a harem and produce children with their wives (the Empress of Piricia has hundreds of officially ranked concubines). However, the females of this species are generally stronger than the males, so it was inevitable.
