Honestly, from your description your 'Special Police force' looks like it has only scratched the surface of an otherwise deep seated corruption. An attempt to look good to the international community without really solving any problems. Such outlandish claims as 'successful war on drugs' only support this.

Britinthia doesnt have a special police force. The Police Service of Britinthia is the only civillian police service. There is an independant civillian commission to follow up and investigate claims of corruption, and Police Britinthia have verious specially trained officers to deal with extaordinary situations.

Swat but that is it as too the war on drugs. well we took care of that by destroying the cartels at their roots and left quite a few grisly messages behind that should keep any one from trying again.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and agree that maybe with enough force and intimidation you could get rid of the major cartels. To this end organised crime would be limited to small scale dealers. However these tactics, and the limited use of these tactics are unlikely to help, or stop users. People desperate enough wont stop just because you threaten them or cut off the easiest supply.

We do not really have special police forces. We have all the average ones like Swat but we don't use them as much because we've never had a reason to.

Police forces are completely inexistent.
Our force that serve use as police are our reservists. They basically monitor the protests and rallies, to make sure nothing gets out of control.
For special police, what they do (rescuing hostages, or retaking strategic points occupied by hostile factions) are replaced by the army. Urban skirmish infantry also receive training equal to what special police in other nations have.

Special police units can be any regular defense force unit needed for a law enforcement job.

This can include patrol ships and cruisers seconded into customs duty or power armor troopers serving in a SWAT role just to name a few examples

HER COURT OF BRELLACH

Brightest blessings;

Responding to a request for information about the organs of Brellachi law enforcement, I can say on Her behalf that the Holy Queendom does not operate, nor plan to operate, any kind of 'special police' force.

Law and order is maintained by Her Lawbringers, and they do so at the behest of the Magnificent and Beautiful, Wise and Powerful, Perfect and Almighty, Avatar of the Divine Glory, Queen Lyta of Brellach, Her horses swift and Her blade true. Operating under such a divine mandate with Her Infinite Wisdom as their guide, Her Lawbringers need no 'special branch' to achieve their noble goal of protecting Her children from those who might seek to do them harm.

Such is the way of things.

Most humbly,

This thread presupposes the existence of a normal police force: we have no policemen.

How does your society enforce law then? Or is 'society' a foreign concept?

Our Flying Squads could be considered "special" in that they have access to vehicles and weapons. Vehicles are used extensively since the Flying Squads cover a lot more territory than a regular beat cop. However, weapons are almost never used.

The Imperial Guard, it's a federal gendarme force that is also a military force. Usually many police forces have riot gear or riot units.

The Special Weapons and Policing Unit, basically Saurisia's equivalent to SWAT which is tasked with certain dangerous situations such as hostage crises. There is also the Special Counter-Terrorism Directorate, which is intended to take on terrorist groups and various organized criminal gangs deemed to dangerous to deal with regular Police forces.

by Farlandria
Special Police Armed Response, Tactics And Negotiation Units (S.P.A.R.T.A.N Units) are the armed response units of the Farlandrian national police service. As front line police do not carry firearms, S.P.A.R.T.A.N Units are called into to deal with special incidents such as sieges, hostage scenarios, etc. They are part of the wider Farlandrian police service. Due to the exceptionally low crime rate in Farlandria, their deployment is so far unheard of in the country's brief, peaceful history.

S.P.A.R.T.A.N Units are armed with MP5 sub machine guns and H&K USP handguns. In exceptional scenarios, sniper rifles or shotguns could be deployed.

Some journalists have criticised the S.P.A.R.T.A.N Units as being "over-militarised" and have warned against any increased funding or use of armed police. Others have also claimed the units have a stupid name that was dreamed up to awkwardly fit into a cool sounding acronym, although the government nor the police service have commented on this.

The Special police force of Cyea'l is known as the Snsaegiva'raeri, or Strikepolice. Simply put, they are the ones who are called with things get proverbially nasty.

by Iron Fist Sovereignty
The IFS Federal Police Service (FPS) is the Iron Fist Sovereignty's only law enforcement agency. It was created in 1990, after it was realized how poorly trained and equipped officers of most agencies in the nation were. In a five-year period, all police agencies in the IFS were disbanded and those who passed the Federal Police Academy were accepted into the FPS.

Prior to the 52-week Academy, applicants must pass a civil service exam and must undergo a polygraph. In the Academy, trainees learn hand-to-hand combat, when to use different levels of force, how to operate their TASER X26c electroshock weapons, their Smith & Wesson M&P9 service pistols, and their selective fire ADCOR A-556 Elite carbines. They also go through an advanced Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC), go through a tactical firearms course, and are taught how to clear buildings effectively.

Daily, trainees are put through obstacle courses and grueling exercises. While in the Academy, they go to the shooting range every day to hone their skills. Most importantly, they learn the laws and codes that they must enforce. Although they are often subjected to written and physical tests throughout their training, at the end of the Academy, trainees must pass a long, difficult written test, a brutal fitness test, and must pass the Federal Police Service's carbine and pistol qualification, said to be the most difficult in law enforcement.

After graduating from the Federal Police Academy, officers go through a 10-week field training in which they are partnered on patrol with a Field Training Officer (FTO). Officers must qualify monthly with their service pistols and carbines and must pass an annual fitness test. They are required to serve for 20 years before they can retire and, in their careers, are able to rise through the ranking system and/or become members of specialized units (e.g. the Narcotics Division of the Organized Crime Control Bureau).

by New Nationale Einheit
Nationale Einheit has two special police organizations. One are the Strategic Defense Forces (military and civilian) operated by the Strategic Defense Agency and the Federal Sheriff (civilian and military) operated by the Federal Sheriff Ministry. Both organizational heads are appointed by the Chancellor without Senate consent and answer directly to the Chancellor, who is currently David McGarry.

The Special Branch is Alizeria's special police force, and is one of two nationwide police forces alongside the highway patrol (with other police forces administered by the local counties).

The Special Branch is tasked with investigating nationwide criminal activity such as organised crime and drug trafficking. It is also the only police branch in Alizeria that possesses an arsenal of firearms, although may only carry firearms with express permission from Cabinet.

Podružnica Specijalna Policija, or the Special Police Branch, is a remnant of Cold War times during the People's Democratic Socialist Republic of Chrobatia. When the monarchy was restored in 1990 following a referendum, the PSP went through a purge of the highest echelons of command, and was reformed under the newly instated democratic government. It's primary purpose now is to act as an in-between of the Chrobatian Police Forces and the relatively small Chrobatian Military.

HUG and IQU are both organizations with police wings that enforce law and order in some of the more remote areas and within the military. HUG is a reformed and inherited intelligence service from the Former Holy Geneva's old days before it's government imploded and acts as a separate network under the Committee For Public Safety in the Former Holy Geneva.

The IQU's Police/paramilitary branch is perhaps the most visible division of the IQU, a secretive intelligence service that has operated since the inception of 250land and some say beyond. There are rumors that deserters from the old Khami Empire secret police formed the IQU before 250land broke away from the Empire.

Other than the Intelligence Services several other Gendarme units have special roles, especially in the Former Holy Geneva or FHG. These are the Capital Defense Force tasked with the protection of the capital city in the FHG, the Rapid Reaction Force, the Criminal Investigation Division (Region wide) and the Veran Village Guard that is a civilian militia tasked with defending Veran Villages.

The Republican Investigation Department (originally the Republican Investigation Division, and the Agency of National Issues when it was still under the police). It sometimes acts as special units for the police.

The Hetaeria. They are the bodyguards of the Protostrategos and they double as a secret police if need be, they are well trained, well armed, and disciplined. The other secret police would be about half of the people under the command of the Kentarch of Media (cover title for the real office of the Kentarch of Information Control).
