We follow the regular calendar here in PRHS, but weapons and military vehicles are designated with a number that states how many years it has been since independence.
Hokkaido-Sakhalin became independent in 1948, so a new rifle built in 2016 would be called "Rifle Model 68", as it has been 68 years that PRHS is independent.

Even though, we've got some tech, the so called "RL-universe" doesn't have.
E.g. we have space ships, we can travel regularly from one point of our solar system to another within minutes to hours, we can destroy entire planets but also create entire planets with working atmosphere etc., we can build buildings in almost no time (if we want to) and some things more. But it's still 2016 for us.
