Since military service is mandatory, all able-bodied males aged between 18 and 40 are enlisted by default.

Between ages 20 and 23, enlisted personnel are required to serve 3 full years in active units; thereafter, they may choose to be put on reserve units or become professional soldiers. Discharge occurs at age 40 for enlisted personnel, 55 for officers. Officers of a certain rank or above may choose to delay discharge until age 70.

Hence, we have a total strength of 71 million as of early 2015, though only 3.5 million are on active duty, the majority of whom are in the army branch.

For RP purposes I would cap my military at around 500,000-800,000 active personnel with a reserve force of around 200,000-450,000
with total between 700,000-1,250,000 trained and organized troops but lacking any really good high tech to match modern militaries. I also have a militia movement of around 500,000-1,000,000 civilians in case war breaks out in the homeland.

The Imperial Army has a total of 190.000 enlisted worker bees, though only about 120.000 of these are in any condition to fight, giving the country a military participance rate of less than 1/1000, which is fairly small, especially be outsized NS standards. However, hives also have about 80.000 militarized police that can serve as soldiers, and the Imperial Army can draft millions of conscripts for any long-term slaughterhouse.

Well, we have a standard army of about 80,000 soldiers, although many are highly trained, and in times of dire need we can instate a draft, where we can get almost a billion human shields- I mean, soldiers.

Every household is required to maintain 1 warrior who can be called upon in times of war but simultaneously the Boroughs are only required to maintain 1 standing Land Regiment(1200 personnel). As such typically most warriors within a borough are technically apart of the reserve(Home Guard). There are 500 Boroughs as such we currently have 600,000 personnel in are land forces.

I'd say that we have a middle sized armed forces. We spend about 8.5% of our GDP on Defence Spending. National Service is compulsory, however it is deferred for some depending on their studies, the medically unfit are not required to do anything other than register, those in reserved industries are exempted as are mothers. Men complete 24 months service, and are overrepresented in combat units, while women complete 12 months service and are overrepresented in non-combat roles.

I have a rather large military. 875,900 troops are active, with about 540,000 reserve. We spend about 5% on our GDP, and 40 some million troops are available for callup.

The Artemean military consists of 275 000 personnel, that is, 75 000 active duty members and 200 000 reservists. Their main duties are peacekeeping, managing internal security matters within their jurisdiction (patrolling the coast and facilitating aid to areas stricken by natural disaster, for example), and fighting human trafficking and slavery. Artemea is known to be generally isolationist in their military policy, except for fighting slavers. The Artemean military prides itself on its history of aggressive anti-slavery tactics and its current human trafficking prevention model.

Not sure what this classifies as, but counting reserve troops there's a little over 4 million total personnel in the military, with the total population being a little over half a billion people.

Our constitution restricts the maximum number of troops (both active and reserve) at 250,000 and the maximum number that can be in active service at any time is 55,000.
