The Defence Force of Kereta and Tutaki has a total of 22,680 people, including reserves, across three branches.

The Army has a total of 18,000 men, 9,000 of which are Active and 8,000 Reservists. They are organized into two active light role infantry brigades, a training, administration and support regiment and two reserve light role infantry brigades.

The Navy has 2,800 men, 2,500 active and 300 reservists, and operates one strategic sealift ship, one oiler, two frigates, two offshore patrol ships, 12 inshore patrol ships, a hydrographic survey ship and a diving support ship. The Navy also operates 5 shipboard helicopters.

The Air Force has 3,180 men, including reservists, and operates 106 aircraft, the aircraft include 28 Hawk 200 light fighters, 14 Hawk advanced trainers (with a secondary ground attack role), 14 AT-6B Texan II basic trainers (with a secondary COIN role), 6 AP-3C Orion Maritime patrol aircraft, 4 B200 King Airs (Used as both a multi-engine trainer and a VIP transport), 2 C-17 Globemaster III Strategic airlifters, 8 C-130J-30 Super Hercules Tactical transports, 14 Bell UH-1H Iroquois light utility/transport helicopters, 8 Agusta A109LUH(NZ) Mako light utility helicopters and 8 NHI NH90 medium utility/transport helicopters.

The UNE has a standing army of 10 sextillion troops, and a fleet of several quintillion military star ships.

The UNE's primary adversary, the Dark Empire, has a similar number of troops, a smaller fleet, and lesser technology, however they are a very significant threat, specifically because they don't follow any moral paradigm when it comes to war, whereas the UNE does.

Military size doesn't always mean victory. Look at the North Koreans. Sure, about 40% of their population are in the military/militia, but still, they lack the technology and skills to defeat the South Koreans.

Now let's look at the Chinese during the Korean War. Yes, they did have millions of soldiers, but many of them, despite being battle-hardened from the Second Sino-Japanese War and Chinese Civil War, could not push further south because of poor logistics and air-defense. And plus, most were using WW2-era weapons, in comparison to the North Koreans, who were given the latest weapons from the Soviets, but their skills were not-so-good.

We could revive Tactical Convention aboard the E.S.C. ChinChin Marathon. V.R. Simulations in small shanty villages, urban conplexes, or a undercover RP where the newbies are called in as backup once the 'expert's cover is blown and they have to retreat while hoping they aren't viciously murdered by a dictator's forces in some pseudo African town.

It wouldn't make much sense if a nation sent members of its Elite Special Forces unit to enter Atlas inexperienced and needing training.

Or we could, y'know, be training/recruiting them into Atlas.

Although that's probably what you meant by VR training... I'm still used to RPing the grimdark and dirty method.

Also, since the likelihood of running into an uncapped '07 nation these days is zilch, I'm probably going to re-cap my population to 500~700 million.
~Previously, I'd capped it at 4 billion (so right about at the age of URA's main; my uncapped pop is now sitting around 20 billion).

The reason for this is because my military's top-level nomenclature only allows for 3440 divisions (up to ~69% of which is privately owned/funded, only ~690 are capable of being listed as combat regulars, and most of those are conscripts), just shy of 7 million soldiers (including naval personnel).

Despite the apparent size, full-time military service is limited and almost entirely exclusive only to commissioned officers (for which the training and benefits are high).
-As noted in quote, over 70% of my military consists of reservists who are tasked more with personally maintaining surplus war-materials and occasionally donating their bodies to a regional conflict. A certain percentage of these forces "wear two hats" and privately sub-contract their services to foreign militaries (which is legal in my country [we have an intel-branch that is designed to pull rogue-agents out and back into the regular military if there is a conflict of interest, and if that fails...]).

No. Not all nations have modern populations, the more advanced a nation is, the higher its population will be.

The Northern Arcadian Empire has a smallish army compared to other Future Tech nations however a huge military compared to other modern nations. Out of the 1.575 billion people here we have a military for of 20 million combined with a 700 ship fleet, this is mostly based off our militarized honor based culture. However all 20 million soldiers are not used at once most of the military is on partial reserve duty and on off world deployments. Our basic infantry soldier is called a Trooper, these are the men or women that you see on all of our military posts throughout our territory. Troopers make up a large portion of both the Army and the some parts if the Navy.
