Government

The government of the Tetheri Republic consists of two elected representatives from each member world and one Executive Archon, who is responsible for overseeing the general operation of the government apparatus. Directly under the Executive Archon are the five primary High Archons, which run specific portions of the state. This group consists of the Archon of Warfare, Archon of External Afairs, Archon of Internal Affairs, Archon of Economics, and Archon of Colonial Affiars. Lower ranked Archons and other officials are appointed directly under one of these broad categories to perform other duties.

Executive Archon

The Executive Archon is the highest office of power one can reach in Tetheran. The position is responsible for handling all state business, whether it be through delegating it to underlings or having the primary office handle it. Each Executive is elected by the Republican Senate for a period of seven years. The election is generally handled from behind closed doors and law dictates it must be a member of the Republican Senate that gets elected to the office. A primary responsibility of an Executive is to handle matters of warfare and direct colonisation. With the dangers of the Gamma Quadrant, ensuring defense of each world is a massive undertaking. The capability with which an Executive Archon commands the military and defends the Republic will likely decide whether or not they are reelected.

Republican Senate

The Republican Senate consists of elected representatives from each Tetheri owned world and colony over 100,000 inhabitants. The primary purpose of the body is to pass into law necessary legislation to insure the that proper law and order are maintained and the state continues to function. The group also appoints an official committee to handle state finances and allocate a yearly budget. Elected representatives serve a seven year term. All land owning Feltgore and Human citizens are permitted to elect two officials from their respective planets. Every seven years, one Sentor also is elected as the Executive Archon, which the Senate is entirely responsible for. Many also serve as diplomats to other worlds and entities.

Territory

Tetheri System

The Republic of Tetheran is a Republic style government located in the Gamma Quadrant, inside the Tetheri System. The system contains thirteen planets, fifteen asteroid fields, two nebulae, and several assorted other debris fields. Ten of the thirteen planets are inhabitable, some through terraforming, while two planets are gas giants. There are fifty different moons in the system and five different man made habitation structures. The closest planet to the system's star, which is known as Dovari 16, is an uninhabitable world due to its proximity. The remainder of the inhabitable worlds exist within the habitation zone of the star, while the final gas giant exists outside of it. Technological development has permitted humans to be able to expand past the initial habitable zone, leading the government to declare the habitable zone expanded. The order of the system's worlds are; Dogath, Terac, Veratha, Stormara, Valdar, Cerval, Cerath, Morgal, Gorgar, Feltae, Talth, Velsh, and Xana.

Planets

Dogath

Dogath is the planet that sits closest to Dovari 16 and subsequently has the shortest rotation around the star. It is a rocky, barren world with an average surface temperature of 20,000 degrees. It was initially home to Frontier Dovari Research Station, which was constructed and placed into orbit on the dark side of the world. Experiments were done on the possibility of establishing underground colonies on the surface of the world due to its extensive mineral resources. It was decided that the expense involved to mine the minerals would be too much to justify. Frontier Dovari Research Station is currently the only inhabited structure of the world after it was purchased by the Feldosta Mining Corporation. The current residing population is 4,000. Due to its location and inhospitable surface, it is rarely visited.

Terac

Terac is the second celestial body in the Tetheri System, Terac is an almost entirely industrialized world that sits on the edge of heavily populated space. Its location in relation to Dovari 16 means it can utilize UV radiation to create vast sources of solar power. The rocky world is also abundant in minerals and is filled with extremely deep mines. The atmosphere is barely suitable for sentient beings to breath exposed for long. It is kept habitable by giant atmospheric plants that pump out greenhouses gasses out of great emitters. This permits beings to walk the surface of the world without needing to wear a breath mask. The interior of the world is marked by great craters and extremely deep tunnels from strip mining and tunneling. The primary star port, Feladar Station, orbits the planet due to conditions on the surface judged not suitable for such a structure. A series of smaller shuttle terminals connect with the planet.

The primary habitation is Glistar City, named after the glistar material that is primarily mined. The harsh conditions on the surface combined with the fact that the only profession is mining and working in one of the numerous refineries or heavy factories has resulted in only two hundred million people inhabiting the entire planet. Most are second class Teldoth and Dekag, looking to escape discrimination on the more populated and wealthy worlds. There are seventeen smaller cities as well, spread out around the planet and clustered around the largest known deposits of minerals. The Republic Armada maintains a presence on the world, though due to its location and its status as a resource world, the planet has only been afforded two of the ubiquitous Titan Orbital Defense Stations.

Stormara

The third planet in the system and the starting point of the primary habitation zone, or the section that did not receive any excessive terraforming, is Stormara. The entire planet is covered by a vast ocean and contains no sentient beings, just animals. The planet is known for its great sea monsters, some thought to have intelligence on par with the average terran. Due to conservation laws enacted by the planetary government, the vast resources on the sea floor are difficult to access. The sea floor is rich in valuable minerals is the only known source of Axo Crystals, stones with special wave absorption properties used in Tetheri stealth systems. The crystals are incredibly expensive to mine and would not form if the seas were to be evaporated. Many such minerals would quickly be exhausted if the sea were to be removed, prompting the conservation laws.

There are sixteen floating settlements on Stormara, each with an intricate sonic defense system that keeps dangerous predators away. Most of the industry is all mining, with exotic goods being a close second export. The oceans of Stormara are rich with gemstones and pearls as well. It is also home to an orbital fleet base and a vast colony station that was constructed as the primary entry point for goods during the construction of the surface settlements. It is currently the oldest facility in the Republic that is still in operation, with a living population of over forty million. The planet itself is home to roughly one hundred million people.

Valdar

Valdar is the start of the Central Belt, so named because it is in the center of the system and comprises planets with massive populations. Valdar is populated by roughly 5 billion people. The planet is largely rural and the population is spread out across sprawling four city complexes and many vast estates. The population is entirely comprised of Feltgor and Terran, and it serves as the capital of the Tetheri Republic. It is a rich and verdant farmland that is known to have rich mineral deposits. These can rarely be accessed, however, as it serves as a location for many rich and powerful people to converge, where they live and own massive estates. The planet's importance means it is heavily defended. It is also a hotbed of ancient Testerial Technology, with four orbiting Annihilator particle cannons that orbit the planet as moons. Several modern stations also orbit the planet and serve as resorts and condos for workers who can't afford to live on the planet.

The capital city, Tetheron, is home to the Palace of Freedom, which has served as the government seat of the Republic for many years. The vast majority of the central government is concentrated here where decisions are made regarding the governing of the Republic. The main headquarters of all branches of the military are also located here and as a result, the planet is the most heavily defended of all the worlds besides Cerval. The affluent population also has resulted in a thriving trade industry for luxury goods such as star yachts and large orbital condos. The world is a widely known pleasure getaway with hundreds of massive resorts catering to those who wish to partake in them. It has come under scrutiny for its reputation as a corrupt world full of debauchery. It is one of the most corrupt in the Republic.

Cerval

Cerval is the primary fleet base of the Republic Armada and contains a vast portion of the Republic's military strength. It is also home to the vast majority of the middle and lower class who cannot afford the massive cost of living on the capital world. The world is mostly made up of deserts and grasslands and contains a vast city sprawling over half of the world's surface. The other half is composed of great farmsIt is know to have over ten billion people living in the city complex with an additional five hundred million inhabiting the remainder. The world has all four major species of the Republic, though the Teldoth and Dekag are generally low wage workers and at times even slaves. The planet has six moons, two of which are entirely urbanized and were terraformed from inhospitable terrain.

The planet contains six of the vast annihilator defense platforms built by the ancient terran settlers. These currently serve the military in no way, however as it is not known how they work. Another large orbital structure is the Cervali Fleet Headquarters, which contains the berthing docks for four of the main Tetheri fleets. A vast orbital capital ship construction yard owned by Vindal Fleet Systems is also present and constructs over 40% of the ships that come out of the Republic. Other structures include regular defense platforms featuring long range particle cannons and several orbital resorts situated on the rural side of the planet.

History

Pre Human History

The Tetheri system was initially composed of three inhabited worlds; Cerval, Feltae, and Morgal. Cerval was home to the Dogath, while Feltae contained the Feltgor. The Teldoth called Morgal home. These early worlds had no interaction due to their technological infancy and had no historical events of note outside of their individual cultures until the arrival of the first human colony ships. Terrans eventually stumbled upon the system after a convoy of colony ships bound for the far reaches of the Alpha quadrant severely miscalculated a faster than light warp. Warp navigation was still in its infancy during this time, over twenty five thousand years prior, and travelling faster than light was dangerous. The colony ships arrived in the Tetheri system under Captain Dane Valdar, a revered hero of the human peoples of Tetheran. Many of the ships had received great damage from navigating the Gamma Quadrant and were able to find a habitable world to land on, which they named Valdar, after their heroic captain that led them safely to a destination. At the time of the landing, Valdar was a great forest world with towering trees and mountains and many such forests had to be cleared before construction could begin on anything meaningful. The settlers founded the first city of Tetheron from which the name "Tetheri" and "Tetheran" would later emerge.
