As long as its two consenting adults above the age of 17, it's legal.

Edit: Forgot to mention this - they can't be related to each other. (Who do you think we are? Alabama?)

In West Floradia, marriage and civil unions are two separate things. Marriage is spiritual/religious, while civil unions are the state's concern. Homosexuals are entitled to both, just as heterosexuals are.

Sangham does not involve itself in the affairs of marriage, whether it be man/woman, man/man, or woman/woman. Most of our citizens are happily married, and two men who want to do the same thing are encouraged to do so without it being considered a threat to the institution.

Mirkana legalized gay marriage about eight years ago when several gay couples petitioned for it, and General Remmol couldn't come up with a reason to say no.

Postby Kandarin » Thu Apr 08, 2010 8:07 pm

Most of the roughly two dozen recognized forms of marriage in Kandarin, particularly those that would be most easily recognized by foreigners, make no distinction between same-sex and opposite-sex partnerships. Legally and culturally, Kandarinese society barely acknowledges a distinction between genders, and the notion of forbidding matrimony based on gender would be too alien to even be scandalous.

However, some of the older, riskier forms of Kandarinese marriage - those based around ancient forms of magical soul-binding - do take into account the gender of the participants. For example, the form known in the old tongue as khamina involves linking two individuals' souls such that they always have some limited awareness of the other's senses and surroundings. For the powerful magic underlying it to function, the bodies of all participants must be an adequate host for all involved souls. They must physically resemble each other in key ways, one of which is that they must be of the same sex. Conversely, the similarly ancient form tin barimana involves a similar link in which two participants switch bodies every day. In order for it to work, each body must be an inadequate vessel in which the soul of the other would never feel entirely welcome. Thus, they must physically differ in key ways, one of which is that the participants must be of opposite sexes. As can be guessed from their descriptions, both khamina and tin barimana were never common and are rare in modern days, as (to some greater or lesser degree) are all of the old forms of marriage involving permanent magical bonds. Most Kandarinese would rather express their love in normal ways rather than have it enforced by irremovable and unnatural compulsion. Nevertheless, those are the only forms in which gender is any issue in Kandarinese marriage.

gay marraige is legal in 1337tonia, as it would be immoral to outlaw it. the citizens of 1337tonia are not overly religious (because our government demands they leave religion in their respective places of worship) and don't really care who marries who, as long as both parties are human.

Nope. The concept didn't really take. Probably something to do with all the Catholics around here. Real, morally decent Catholics. I know. I've had real mental trouble believing they really exist sometimes, too.

Gay marriage is legal, that's it. It is extremely discoraged and frowned upon by the people and the government because of religious reasons
