In the Republic of Dubatu, gay marraige is legal. Where do your nation stand on this issue?

Homosexuals within The United Socialist States of Divnogorsk have just as many rights as any other law abiding citizen (If they are law abiding citizens). They have no more, and no less.

Concerning the act of homosexual sex (Anal, oral, etc.), It's legal in the privacy of one's home. Doing so in public, however, will get you fined and jailed (As with heterosexual sex in public). While kissing, hugging, holding hands, etc. is legal in public, as long as it doesn't interfere with that person's daily duties as a working-class citizen.

As for marriage, it is legal. As churches and other religious facilities are banned, people get married via government court. When taking the oath of marriage (Also know as the Bonding Oath), it is held as a governmental agreement. As so, you are charged and jailed if you are found cheating (This goes for men, woman, and gay men). You can, however, always receive a governmental divorce. It does seem, however, that less than 10% of gays to get divorced (according to our yearly census report).

Marriage does not exist as far as the state is concerned. However, both homosexuals and heterosexuals are allowed to have civil unions with any consenting adults.

Marriage is about as sacred as a particularly uninteresting rock in ramsetia. (No offence to people who worship particularly uninteresting rocks, of course)

People may marry who or what they like. One of our diplomats is legally married to his pet cat, for example.

As an officially Roman Catholic country, many Rafellans still hold marriage to be the sacred union between male and female.

Civil partnerships are legal, however, and fairly common at that. There is also talk of the Pondera - the secular third of our government - forcing the Order of St. Raphael - the religious third of our government - and the monarchy to legalise gay marriage, citing the fact that a solid marriage between two people of the same sex is far more sacred than a broken marriage between a male and a female.

The idea of sticking one's nose into somebody else's sexual affairs is utterly bizarre. In Fatatatutti, marraige is nobody's business except for the two (or more) people directly involved.

Loamshire does not currently permit same sex marriages, or same sex civil unions. Don't expect us to feel bad about it. The law was written by people voted in by a vast majority. Marriage is between individual men and women. One man, one woman. That's it. Nothing else is permitted.

Is that so? I guess we'll cry later, then, when we have time to give a flying toss. Giving the smallest shrieking minorities what they want simply because they have big lungs and can cry a lot is not how business is carried out in Loamshire.

The trouble is that different minorities with different grievances can add up to a major body of opposition.

Would you? I don't think you would. At least we don't shoot homosexuals, like some nations do. So long as you keep it private in the home, you're pretty much alright.

We have no laws about gay marriage because homosexuality has been accepted long enough that it's automatically assumed that homosexuals and heterosexuals have equal rights.

To whom it may concern:

Thank you for your question regarding marriage rights within our nation as forwarded to us by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. The current legal status reflects the norm in common law throughout our national history, in that the state does not recognise the religious institution of marriage but rather certifies civil commitments entered into freely by two people lawfully capable of entering into a contract. The agreement must be entered into freely with a legitimate meeting of minds and may begin with either a year of cohabitation or through a ceremony conducted by a duly authorized official.

Gay Adoption is federally banned. But the actual title of marriage is left for the provinces to decide.
