Basically any one handed sword that can thrust very well is a great weapon for a civilian to carry.

Who said anything about battle? And many nobles who were proficient in fencing almost certainly saw battle.

Rapiers were generally not battlefield weapons. What we're talking about are weapons good for a civilian to carry, which means weapons good for one on one combat, which the rapier absolutely is the best at.

I think it has the title of being one of the worse weapons ever made, its designer attempted to use the Toggle lock action. the guy REALLY was a huge fan of it.

I wouldnt even use this if i had a bottle full of Jägermeister in me and there were a bunch of equally drunk Italians came at me, id use the damn thing as club instead.

Random question time. Could I make a toggle delayed (not toggle locked but delayed, as in the thing does not lock on a closed chamber. The toggle just acts to delay the opening a bit) weapon that when firing on full auto would tend to act as a strait blowback to disastrous effects? Or just generally perform disastrously. Ideally killing or maiming the user or at least falling apart.

The round used would be a bad attempt at an intermediate with a heavy rifle like bullet fired from a small case.

Isn't the whole thing about "locking" false because the whatever design the bolt is (toggle, rotating, roller), it doesn't actually lock the bolt? I was under the impression that all those bolt designs are delay mechanisms.

Rule 1) "Sword X vs Sword Y" is dumb and pointless debate if those two swords are meant for different fighting styles.
