There was an interesting conversation in NSG the other day where a China-fapper proclaimed that Chinese soldiers charging positions to engage in martial arts, and artillery troops firing shells without guns at LOS targets would overcome western imperial aggressors.

Why can't people realize that you can like a country while recognizing its problems and not having to revert to total idiocy

What's to stop the Vietnamese from sneaking a kilo up next to it, firing a salvo of klubs at the fuel tank storage. The planes there are helpless. You have to resupply them. Except you have to get through the minefield that the kilo placed. And you have to hope the kilo doesn't sink the tanker with a torpedo when it has arrived at the refuel point, thus blocking it from being used again?

They invented lots of nifty stuff in the pre-communist past, but thats neither here nor there. Most of the equipment china has produced in area's that don't require advanced technology is competent (battle boxes, trucks, light tanks, small arms, rocket artillery etc)

yeah ok but they haven't produced any innovations useful to us on the NSMRC.

actually thinking about it, its pretty smart:

China wants to control a vast area of ocean but lacks a navy capable of doing so, recognizing this, it's building airfields and strong points (which would likely be the base point for AShMs and similar) to augment its naval presence in the region. Compared to basing aircraft back on the mainland it seems like it would be a major improvement, not really a replacement for having aircraft carriers but still something.

I know DF-21D is more of a political bluff than a real asset, and J-31 is a TotallyNotF-35; but I haven't heard much about the J-20 fighter.
