UTV vs jeep

I believe a jeep will have a higher road speed and probably a higher towing capacity.

i'm kind of undecided really

i already figuered out I'll need a truck purpose-built to being armored for the front-lines, something like a JLTV.

however, seeing how that's about 5T and really pretty big and not well suited/overkill for rear echelon logistics or lighter applications, i figured i also need something else.

something like a lr defender or mil g-class is about 2 T and ~70" in width.

would be nice to have something that could fit in a not-NH90 (since ill be using it as a battlefield chopper and stuff) and weigh around ~1T or less though.

Go with a :not:Cougar HE as your frontline truck, then go with the Wiesel AWC (or a similarly tracked chassis) as your rear echelon and behind enemy line recon slash utility vehicle.

Not sure about air defence radars (which would probably see the plane a long way first anyhow), but portable radars for use with gunner units can detect infantry in the open and partially concealed, so a parachute could be pretty visible. Why you'd be pointing these radars up though is a slight mystery since you'll detect the plane first anyway, and even at night they shouldn't be too hard to spot if you know where they're landing.

You will want a light-mediumweight jeep, yes.
BTR and BMP will be far too unwieldy for the sorts of places you'd actually want a jeep.

Like I said, people show up on radar.
Metal is a much more efficient reflector, yes.

Dirt reflects about 15% of EM radiation iirc.

... the tigr is also overkill. if you want you can have it but youll still need an unarmored or lighter armored something to fill your basic military jeep role. if youll look at the actual Russian military equipment list i'll bet you 20 bucks youll find something like a GAZ or UAZ or whatever they're using, and it really isn't just because they can't afford more 7T+ tigrs.

you wouldnt really want the tigr if the BTR was more multirole but it isn't. it's mostly designed for combat and not logistics/utility. just my opinion. so yes you can and probably should have the tigr

actually, Cougar HE (or any MRAP, especially heavy ones for that matter) would be complete and utter blasphemy for sparky.

It don't need to see the parachute.. But what's being dropped.

Man got RCS of around 1 Sqm in typical ground surveillance radar

The chute itself may not really visible..or have smaller RCS than its cargo.

idk about military models, but land rovers aren't famous for their reliability. perhaps a g-class would be better. but then again i would still go with defender looks & variants

Seeing as how B-52s can't really penetrate enemy airspace to bomb stuff and survive anymore, would it make sense to replace them with the 747 Cruise Missile Carrier Aircraft thing? The B-52s are really only useful as missile trucks anyway, and the 747 CMCA can carry 72 ALCMs to the B-52's 20 ALCMs.

In most cases the radar would not track them, the doppler filter would reject the returns from such a slow object.

But as was said before the paratroopers would be spotted on radar anyway so it doesn't matter, assuming line-of-sight?

The radar would "see" them but the operator wouldn't, when the return from the man/chute passes through the doppler filter it would be discarded by processor because of its low doppler shift.

SOME radar specifically tuned to track low-doppler targets might track them (ground surveillance radar, possibly counter-mortar radars) but in general if you are a parachutist radar is not your big concern.
