According to our Parental Code:

Children are entitled to care, security, and a good upbringing. Children are to be treated with respect for their person and individuality, and may not be subjected to physical punishment or any other humiliating or degrading treatment.

Consequences for violating this law are (in order of severity) a warning, fines, probation, removal of the child, and jail.

Discipline is seen as important in raising children as it helps shape their nature, outlook, behavior, and habits in adulthood.

^ Those.

In TurtleShroomer law, the punishment for domestic abuse or child abuse is death. Beating children and wives is unacceptable and will be handled as it deserves to be.
The old mantra in TurtleShroom for abuse goes: "if the liquid flows clear (tears), obediance is near; if the liquid flows red (drawing blood), you'll soon be dead". This also applies to broken bones.

However, spanking and caning (be they switch, hand/appendage, corporal punishment rod, or belt) are very common and, indeed, are the most successful methods. Those who are unaffected by corporal punishment, as well as those that are, will also have privileges and toys revoked for bad behavior. The entire point of discipline is to teach the child to do right, not embitter them towards authority. The Bible says that a parent needs to be slow to anger and not be cruel or overly harsh to their child, just as the Father in Heaven treats them. God disciplines, and so do parents, but true discipline is done out of love and the need for children to be taught right from wrong by negative enforcement.

On an unrelated note, all schools from elementary to college are allowed to use coporal punishment/paddling on their students. Colleges seem to administer it almost as much as elementary schools, because college students are infamously rebellious and downright stupid.

Submission and obediance to authority is taught in all TurtleShroomers from birth, but they are also ordered to defy someone who forces them to defy the holy teachings of God, in His Word. (For example, forcing someone to murder another innocent, or being ordered to perform an elective abortion, or forcing them to worship or not worship God or an idol, or forcing someone to renounce, defame, or defy God. The entire point of religion is free will.)

In many cases, children are to be seen, not heard, unless they are with other children or playing, etc. .

The Zafirianos are glad to know other nations share their values and ideologies.

It's been proven that kids behave more, and learn more about life if they get tough love. And if kids misbehave... let's just say they no longer misbehave.

The Althing Confederacy wrote:"Have we not discussed this child? ... Reasoned with you?!?
"Now go pick a switch!"

Yes. Parents are firm and try to discuss it with the child, but that doesn't happen, a child has to bear their bottom for a spanking.
