Mechanocracy infantrymen wear a next-generation suit of powered armour into combat. Power is provided by a small deuterium battery embedded into the helmet, which transmits electrons to the servo-motors in the joints of the suit. The armour plates on the suit are manufactured from a synthetic carbon-infused titanium "durasteel" alloy which offer several times the strength of carbon fibre for a fraction of the cost; the suit is resistant to medium-calibre bullets fired at mid-to-long range and low-grade munitions will not even penetrate. However, the plates are a great deal heavier than standard Kevlar body armour, so the servo-motors take off most of the weight. Further protection is provided by a tough polybenzimidazole fibre skin-suit which offers strong resistance to napalm and petroleum-based weapons and limited defence against directed-energy weapons. Very often, power armour is vulnerable to an electromagnetic pulse which can cause an electron overload that damages the servo-motors (if not shut them off completely). For this purpose the armour is fitted with a failsafe mechanism which loosens the servo-motors and allows them to move independent of motion capture. While this mechanism seriously impedes the wearer's mobility (they are basically carrying a medieval suit of armour on their back, after all), it still allows for freedom of movement, ensuring that the wearer is not entirely defenceless when subject to an EMP attack.

Army Corps

Winterized Armor Pattern

The Army Corps is the backbone of the ground war. The infantry is a vital organ of any major operation, and the men and women of the Army Corps are invaluable. Being the basic grunts of the Empire, Army corpsmen are recruited from civilian volunteers and low-level criminals who opted for national service instead of isocell time. This is opposed to the pool of highly-trained recruits brought in from military academies, which often fill the roles of officers or skilled soldiers. However, their background is not to be underestimated. Army initiates are trained and drilled in necessary skills for two months. A lot of this is done via holo-deck, giving flexibility to their regimens. By the time their training ends, the Empire is left with a group young men and women trained well and thoroughly in infantry combat.

The Army Corps is issued the Heavy Combat Uniform (HCU). The HCU consists of a tight-fitting one-piece suit of liquid Kevlar worn directly on the skin. Liquid Kevlar is a revolutionary form of body armor that utilizes micro-sized iron particles suspended in a thick gel. Once a bullet strikes the Kevlar, the particles around the are of impact get magnetically attracted to the bullet and stack up against it before it can penetrate the suit. This gives the bullet the impression of hitting a brick of solid steel. It also includes a thick, flame-retardant shirt and pants of one solid color, with thick plates of nano-woven ceramic for added armor. It also comes with steel-toed combat boots, combat gloves, HUD goggles, ceramic combat helmet, and a thin layer of nanofabric worn to hide the face and protect it from gas and airborne disease. While some complain that the uniform is a bit bulky, it's rarely given any trouble over heat. Soldiers sweat into the Liquid Kevlar underarmor. Sweat typically seeps into the underarmor until it hits the gel. After it hits the gel, it returns, cool and refreshing on the soldiers' bodies.
