-Does Spanish have official or co-official status in your nation? Spanish (along with French) holds a co-official status. (English and Inyurstan are the two official languages)

-Is Spanish considered important in your nation? Yes. Our nation was originally settled by European powers (Portugual, Spain, France and England), and many citizens speak Spanish, be it a local dialect or as a part of exo-Latin American diaspora. It is also a major influence on the hybrid, creolised romance language of Inyurstan.

-What percent of your people speak Spanish? 13% As a first or second language; 44% as a third or fourth language.

-How popular is Spanish as a learned foreign language? The term "foreign" wouldn't quite describe the status of Spanish in Inyursta. Spanish is equally as popular as French, and both are direct influences of Inyurstan, resulting in an ease to learn of both languages. Overall, roughly 15% of the nation is tetra-lingual; speaking what's known as "La Mistura D'Etat" - The Mix of Status - being English, Inyurstan, French and Spanish.

It's not French,it's not Spanish,it's Inyurstan
"Inyourfaceistan" refers to my player/user name, "Inyursta" is my IC name. NOT INYURSTAN. IF YOU CALL INYURSTA "INYURSTAN" THEN IT SHOWS THAT YOU CANT READ. Just refer to me as IYF or Stan.

Spanish is illegal to speak or write, unless you're a translator.

Since we are a non-human species there are almost no spanish speaking citizens. It is possible that foreign embassy personnel may speak the language.
We use universal translators because most other species do not speak "Braybleat".
We would be interested in sending emissaries to these civilizations that we may learn from their cultures and they can learn from us. Please send delegates to our embassy starport orbiting Hircus Prime (Future Tech/PMT).

We consider Spanish very important, because it is our official language (along with Russian). In addition, all of our allies and trading partners are Spanish-speaking nations. Nearly all of our population understands the language, as it is taught in every school grade from preschool up to secondary school.

-No, Spanish is not a co-official language. The official languages are Corunian and Mironorese, and the official lingua franca is English.
-Some people think it's important, while others don't.
-I dunno. It's mostly spoken by immigrants and L2 speakers.
-It's relatively popular as an L2 language, although German and Maxtopian are more popular.

Scow Creek is divided into 24 Departments. Every 5 years a Census is conducted, and one of the few Constitutionally permissible questions that is asked is about native tongue. Anytime more than 5% of the residents of a Department speak a particular language, that language becomes an "official" language, which means that all major government documents must be available in that language.

We are currently undertaking our 2014 Census to prepare for the 2015 elections, so more precise data will be available soon, but I can assure you based on the past that Spanish will be an official language in a minimum of eight of the 24 Departments.

Although the Republic of Rio Grande del Sur has no official language, Spanish (specifically a Rioplatense dialect, with further Gaucho and Portuguese influences) is the lingua franca in much of the Republic. It is the first language for over 65% of the population, and is spoken fluently by an estimated 92% of all Riograndense citizens. Spanish shares many features and words with Gaucho Portuguese, the second most widely spoken language in the Republic. Because of the ease of comprehension, Spanish is typically taught as a required subject in Portuguese-language schools, making it the second most popular learned language overall, behind English.
