The Spanish language never developed in our timeline. However, there is a dialect of Latin with many influences from Spain's older Gaulish tribes.

St. Syril was Greek, actually. He and his brother Methodius based the Cyrillic alphabet off of the Greek alphabet. Also, alphabets have little to do with the spoken language itself. Slavic-descended languages area completely separate branch of the Indo-European language family than Latin and its descended tongues.

Spanish is not legal to be spoken in te nation's borders. 0% speak it and it has no status in or country. It is not taught as well, as only Scandanavian languages, Russian and Baltic languages are allowed to be taught.

Does Spanish have official or co-official status in your nation?

No; Spanish is a foreign language not spoken by any significant proportion of the population.

Is Spanish considered important in your nation?

Spanish is recognised as a useful foreign language to know, especially in terms of tourism, trade and diplomacy. Thus, a large number of institutions as well as individuals offer Spanish tuition.

What percent of your people speak Spanish?

In terms of a native language to a citizen, fewer than 1% speak it as their first language.

How popular is Spanish as a learned foreign language?

A recent survey of popular foreign languages placed Spanish as number 12 out of 50 on a list of the most popular 50 foreign languages for study. Ergo, one can consider it to be quite a popular language for learning.

TurtleShroom's national language is English. Everything is in English. This said, Japanese is a popular second language because of TurtleShroom's relations with the Greater Imperial Japanese Dystopia and its many, many satellites and spheres of influence.

However, before 1880, TurtleShroom was de jure a bilingual state consisting of English and Russian. (Despite this, actual casual use of Russian died in the early eighteenth century, and it only remained in remote areas and most of the older turtle populations.)

While there has been a tiny Hispanic minority for some time, the Spanish language was rarely, if ever spoken, because no one else knew or considered it.
