Our worst aviation disaster was on June 17, 1996. A pilot flying a just-purchased Brand new F-16 Falcon was flying along when the Fly-by-wire quit working. He was able to eject safely, and there were no casualties, but it cost our government a lot of money. It just hit the ground in an area with no creatures or people in it.

An oversized glider with a passenger capacity of 10 in addition to the pilot and co-pilot was being used for an aerial tour. It flew too close to one of the fabled Schultz Kite Eating Trees which mistook the glider for a giant kite. None of the passengers were recovered and only minimal wreckage was found.

During The Great War, a scout plane squadron was sent out to find Allied Powers positions, but they never got there. It is still unknown today what happened, and it did cost Xyrx 1 million dollars (planes for us we were buying from Germany).

Flight: AM 626, and HWC 294
Date: 15 March 1992
Summary: Mid-air collision
Site: Miraclia City
Passengers: 497
Crew: 36
Injuries: 0
Fatalities: 976 (443 on the ground, not including the air traffic controller)
Survivors: 0
Aircraft Type: (AM 626) Boeing B747-300, (HWC 294) Boeing B747-200

Flight Origin: (AM 626) Miraclia City, (HWC 294) New Cardiff
Stopovers (if any): none
Destination: (AM 626) Newport, (HWC 294) Miraclia City

AM 626 and HWC 294 collided in midair after an overworked air traffic controller accidentally assigned the same air route and altitude to both aircraft. The controller caught his mistake, and gave the aircraft orders to avoid eachother, however, TCAS (Traffic Collision Avoidance System) also ordered evasive actions, but opposite to those of the ATC. AM 626 chose to follow TCAS, while HWC 294 followed the ATC, resulting in both planes descending into each other.
As the collision took place over downtown Miraclia City, the wreckage crashed into densely occupied office buildings, killing almost as many people on the ground as on the planes.

Months later, shortly after the MTSB released its investigation report on the accident, the air traffic controller was kidnapped. He was found shot 59 times a week later, and died in hospital the next day, never regaining consciousness.

During a training mission, on February 3, 1993, an F-5E Tiger II, from the 3rd TFS "Bulldog", accidentally clipped a TU-95 Bear, from the 1st BS "Bear", that was carrying an experimental nuclear bomb. The bomber crashed near the village of Hancor. The bomb detonated killing 3,270 civilians in Hancor and 12 crew on the two aircraft. Over the years 193 more died rom radiation. This incident caused Chistanad to cancel it's nuclear program. The city will be unlivable for thousands of years to come.

Flight IA261 2003. An Imperial Arab Airways plane departed from Mai Kong in KwaDai's territory of Ashwar and was due to land into Benghazi Airport. Bad weather meant the plane had to divert its track south to Sabha. On its way south a fault in the planes engine caused it to plummet into the desert where it collided with an oil refinery resulting in an enormous fire and explosion as the all passengers, crew and staff at the refinery were killed.

July 28, 2014. South Pacific Airlines Flight 127. A passenger 747-400 had a mid-air collision with a South Pacific Air Cargo DC-10 while taking off from South Pacific International Airport (the DC-10 was just beginning to descend). The DC-10 was bisected when the 747's vertical stabilizer sliced into it. The DC-10's two halfs, along with the 747's rudder, then fell into the rainforest near the airport and exploded, killing all four crew members. The 747 continued on for another 50 miles without the rudder. Eventually, the stress on the airframe caused one of the wings to shear off and sent the 747 into a spiral that ended with an explosion on the icy tundra next to the Stony Mountains. There were no survivors. The root cause was an understaffed control tower with only two controllers due to a labor strike. The air traffic was also unusually heavy on that day. All this combined to cause the loss of 507 lives.

Please don't talk about this disaster with our citizens. We are still very sensitive about it. :(

Worst aviation disaster with a Gingeska aircraft was 16 October 1972. Air Gingeska flight 174 (an Ilyushin Il-18) crashed due to weather and pilot error, killing 98 people.

Worst aviation disaster in our Airspace was 8 December 1988. Maxuel Northern Airlines flight 245 (McDonnell Douglas DC-10).
The flight had communication and navigation problems, and entered Gingeska airspace unknowingly. After communication could not be established, 2 Gingeska air force MiG-23 intercepted the aircraft and fired warning shots across the nose. This warning was ignored, and the Aircraft was shot down by an R-27 (AA-10 Alamo) missile-- killing all 286 people on board. An official investigation by the GAF determined that the base commander was at fault for giving the order to engage. This led to new rules of engagement being adopted.
