Not exits, but they'll be producing less in favour of commonly adopted AFVs. They're under pressure because of the GD purchases, but the French and German markets aren't going to be breached by them - there'll be more AFVs to come.

Kouralian AFVs mostly have three lights on the front - IR Headlight, Headlight and Indicators. At the rear they normally have Brakes, Indicators, Reverse and the usual rear lights. They are often equipped with a detachable orange rotating beacon on exercises etc., while RMP ones can be fitted with a detachable Riot-Appropriate blue light bar.

Most vehicles will go fully lights-out and use NV gear to drive, though may use any combination of lights at the discretion of the OC.

Well, yeah, but that's because you had the tracks to begin with. :P

You start as a rule of thumb with the drive sprocket - you draw your tracks around them so they fit into place. From there, I usually do a bit more of the tracks, then draw up an outline for the tracks, draw the drivetrain around them, finish the tracks, then work up, do the body of the vehicle, add simple colouring shade, then camo, then add details.

When you're working with smaller scales, the process I use doesn't really apply, because the level of detail is such that you don't need your tracks to slot into the sprocket. But at larger scales, it's very noticeable if you get it wrong - case in point, my HT9A7.

It depends on why I am making a new tank design. Usually it is because I have an idea for a a component like a new turret or hull shape. I will usually start out with that.

As someone who has drawn something like 10 tanks and published none of them here because I don't think they are good enough since I am a crazy perfectionist I have to echo Anemos. You start with the drive sprockets and road wheels and make sure your suspension is correctly sized. After that you go on to design the main gun (and ensure a proper recoil length) and than the turret around it. Finally you build a body around that turret making sure it's large enough to fit the engine in the back and a driver in the front whilst making sure to align the drive sprocket and suspension correctly. And than you add the tracks.

Purpelia does not reflect my actual world views. In fact, the vast majority of Purpelian cannon is meant to shock and thus deliberately insane. I just like playing with the idea of a country of madmen utterly convinced that everyone else are the barbarians. So play along or not but don't ever think it's for real.

For the record, this was my first attempt.

It's not that I have any intrinsic ability or anything - I just spent more time looking into source images and technological aspects, and on the lineart itself. There's no rush - spend more time working on the lineart and developing it, and it'll turn out better. It doesn't have to take ages - but if you spend two or three hours on a single piece, it'll definitely look better than something you whacked up in ten minutes.

I mean, with RB's generous donation of tracks, you don't even have to do the hard bit anymore - so you have no excuse.

Strictly speaking, this was your first tank lineart, you were already more than proficient at lineart :P

So I've got busy trying to design a light tracked vehicle, in the vein of the M113 APC, or that Bradley family offering, but based off of an in-universe SPz Puma-ish vehicle. Does this look good so far?

Guys, how much penetration can a modern day 100mm rocket-propelled grenade (similar in principle to those shot from anti-tank rocket launchers, but in a vehicle mounted setup) reasonably have?

First get a couple reference photos, I like to have two: 1) A photo resized to JG scale 2) a full size image so I can see all the details.

Then I make a red box that is as long and tall as what the completed tank will be. Next I just add a few lines to delineate the hull and road wheel height. After that I reward myself by drawing a turret.

Then I drink copiously and start doing the tracks because I suck at them and hate them.

Semi-related question, why does sketchup Borderlands-shade all the renders that I've ever seen?

Certain 84mm rounds for the Carl Gustav have ~400mm of penetration. So a bit more than that?

Why does sketchup render everything with cell-shading, to make it look like a cartoon or a Borderlands vehicle? Why does sketchup render everything like that?
