Lol italian armored vehicles.

Russia isn't stupid enough to use the Ariete, it's the Iveco LMV they use. But it's in really limited numbers and I don't know where in the Russian military or security forces it actually gets used because you only ever see pictures where they have Tigrs.

Because jungles tend to contain streams, mud, swamps, and a thousand other things that'll sink the dozer fairly quickly.

Engine issues.

Tanks clearing a path through dense undergrowth, forest or jungle were afforded about three hours of dozing before being pulled out. It's very hard on engines. Remember a tank's basically an overweight dozer without a blade.

As part of my new reform plan for the next mandate, I shall now ask 90% more reasonable questions 80% of the time.

RWS MANPAD on tanks? Outside of it taking up a bit of room, I would think having an anti helicopter weapon that can be fired from inside of a tank would be beneficial. Thoughts on this?

How effective is spaced armor against Kinetic energy perpetrators? I know its potent against HEAT ammunition, but I'm unsure of what it would do to KEP ammo

Parading North Korean tanks are sometimes seen with what appear to be pintle-mounted MANPADS launchers, possibly operable from within the tank. Not sure I'd recommend it, though, as I can't seem to find examples of this anywhere else. Depending on the situation, you're usually better off either attaching MANPADS-equipped units to a tank formation and using the tank's HMG where possible, especially if you're short on MANPADS as is.

IIRC, those twin-barrel pintle launchers are actually a Soviet development that've clearly been adapted and carried over.

Can you direct me to a source on this? I'm not questioning your credibility, I'm just genuinely curious to hear more about this concept, as I had always assumed there was a clear practical reason why MANPADS tank pintle launchers never saw widespread service.

Those crazy north Koreans

I can easily use a combination of the two, give some of my dismounted infantry units MANPADs and have the tanks use their HMGs. Going from that, I had an idea for a technical style vehicle equipped with a ZU-23-2 that can either fire with visual crew guidance or can be hooked up to an air defence network for radar guidance. This vehicle would be able to operate fairly close to tanks to offer close range air denial or in conjunction with other air defence elements further back from the front line

Well, I don't think they were originally intended for use on tanks. Probably light vehicles, IFVs and jeeps in air defence battalions, or battalion air defences.

For example, here's two Strelets remote-control launcher fitted to a ZSU-23-4.

Ah, that makes more sense - I thought you meant something specifically intended for tanks. It's already been a few months since I made a BRDM-2 with Strelets (8 missiles) for Motor-Rifle battalion air defense a la Strela-1.

Non-explosive reactive is actually a form of passive armor, and you normally find it inside the armor array.

And if you ask me Chobham = a kind of NERA.

Really? The way I read the wiki article on it suggested NERA was put outside the hull like ERA, and you're saying it's inside the armour itself?

This is why I stay away from vehicle designing :/

However, NERA and NxRA are lighter and completely safe to handle (and safe for nearby infantry), can theoretically be placed on any part of the vehicle, and can be packaged in multiple spaced-out layers if necessary.

It gets confusing because what is generally left out is that well ERA is normally applied only as a single tile, a NERA armor block is typically a big stack of NERA tiles.

The T-55 enigma is a good example of an external NERA application. As you can see the blocks are quite hefty and each one contains many NERA tiles. But there is no reason why the NERA has to be on the outside. There are no explosives and no risk it will inflict collateral damage.
