amx 40 best tenk 1940

may or may not look like slightly sad duck

Leclerc is best nowadays of course, the picture displayed by by Anemos is even better than the one with the two cavalry figures escorting it that I find amusing. Sadly my desktops on my laptop and main computer already have the seal of the Third Republic and an overhead aerial view of the parade of Bastille Day at the Arc de Triomphe so I can't use it for a desktop background :(

I'm supposed to post pictures when I'm top page right? I'll cheat and put a bat chatillion 25t and amx 13 next to each other

Image

Or should I have gone with T-44 for page 44?

Such failure I am.

Looking at engines for a Chieftain re-engine. Possibly as-built inocal manufacture. The Israelis were quite fond of the AVDS-1790, and I can get it, would it be possible to rebuild chieftain or modify it early in local production to mount this american engine, and likely transmission that the Merkava had?

Double question: re-gun chieftain, yes or no?

Anything as long as it's modern diesel, and fits.
As for re-gun, 160mm cased HEAT ammunition. From a short and stubby barrel, through which you can launch missiles.

I am also a big fan of the T-55 but I prefer the T-80 over the T-72. I think the T-80 is the better looking tank of the two.

I also like Swedish tanks like the Stridswagn 74 and the S-tank.

The Lecrerc is beautiful but I also like the efficient look of the Leopard 2.

Swiss tanks best tanks.
Purpelia does not reflect my actual world views. In fact, the vast majority of Purpelian cannon is meant to shock and thus deliberately insane. I just like playing with the idea of a country of madmen utterly convinced that everyone else are the barbarians. So play along or not but don't ever think it's for real.

As for regunning, at the time of introduction you either accepted the leap ahead that was the L11 or you stick with the L7 "prehistoric peashooter" (as it was known to Cheiftan crews).

By the mid 80s you coudl then start at looking at either a compeltely new tank for 120mm Rheinmetal goodness or upgrade to L30.

As for the drive train you could go with the RR CV12 engine and David brown TN37 gearbox set designed for the Shir 1 although thats not a an option until into the 70s

Thinking of making a mid-WWII heavy tank. Suggestions for what to base it off?

I was thinking of the ARL 44, but I'd need to think of how to make it not obsolete. I'm not good enough to make the B1 not look like shit.

Well I will be making a variant with a KV-2-esque turret, so there's that.

Is this based on the chassis of one of your earlier vehicles, or is it just visually similar? What sort of rocket calibre are we looking at here? Range and purpose?

It is the Caleuche battle transporter. I first mentioned the concept here:

viewtopic.php?f=23&t=279876&p=20306625&sid=77d8faacb10cf2728a511b4b45b1a968#p20306625

This is the basic vehicle:

Here is the cargo variant:

And here is the AA variant:

All the same vehicle with different stuff mounted on them.

By removing half the tank, I suppose? The chassis is basically a rushed 'improvement' on the B1 - add bigger road-wheels and a better suspension to improve the ride performance, an improved transmission to allow for a better engine and you can build the turret as it was. The drivetrain was faulty and problematic, and even by midwar standards it was basically a bigger version of an outdated layout. You'll have a decent mid-war tank with funky aesthetics after all that, which I'd guess is what you're going for.

Korva wrote:ARL turret + KV hull or AMC-35 turret + B1 hull.

Option 'A' is okay, if not a tad conventional. Might as well go with a KV-85 with a slightly bigger gun?
Option 'B' is a big, big, big no no. Not without considerable modification, otherwise it'll end up being a bad KV-1.

I'll see how this KV hull and ARL 44 turret combo goes.

I might even have an experimental monstrosity with my M41 Troubadour's turret, if it would even be possible.
