That out of the way, how good, performance-wise was the EE-T1/2 Osório? Was it cancelled purely because of the political/economic environment or were there issues with the tank's performance itself?

It's quite heavy and slow for its time, I suppose? And its ammunition is pretty particular to the vehicle - you'll need a pretty hefty logistics investment to use the tank, I suppose. Otherwise, it's well armoured and armed with a faulty upscaled drivetrain that'll need to be looked at, but you seem to have that under control.
