But for my Stahnese tracked vehicles I use very short links that are very easy to fit together.

Sometimes I cheat as well. There is a reason for those things on top of the tracks of this Kaled tank:

You guessed it; I couldn't get these new tracks to fit. But now no one will ever know.

EDIT: Often my tracks don't need to connect at all because they are only exposed at the bottom.

Its like we have the designers of the Char B2 and gave them modern technology, but no modern insight into tanks.

Still very cool

Speed: 40 km/h on road. It's off road characteristics are really bad. On really rough ground it might not be able to move at all.
Gun: 55-calibre long 120 mm rifled (No, it is not the L30A1) with an autoloader.
Armor: Composite, making use of depleted uranium armor. (front and sides of hull and turret)
These specs are not definite.

It is not the result of designers of the Char B2 with access to modern technology, but no modern insight into tanks but I like this theory although it is far from the IC-truth. (Almost the opposite)

I won't spoil it because I plan to use this back story in a future RP some day.

Honestly with no supsension that I can see and with the individual links being really thin and long, I doubt it could get anywhere near 40 on solid ground.

The links aren'tthat thin but in anycase, I wasn't going for realism in this design.

When I made it I felt the need to go back to my earlier ways of making more fantastic designs.

Still, I could shave off 10 km or so of the top speed... :/

Not sure if I am ever going to get use this tank in RP's at all to be frank. The ideas behind it don't seem to be the sort of stuff the people I have been RP-ing with are in to. :'(

Just do what I do and churn things out and never use them because you don't have backstory and are too lazy to make one. It's really rewarding.

Miniguns aren't used on vehicles for a reason.

12 tonnes won't decrease speed that much honestly.

However 12 tonne upgrades are kinda wat, considering that most upgrades come in incriminates of a few tonnes.

250mm of armor also isn't allot for the frontal aspect either.

Not related to your stuff, but just general iiwiki formatting in general:

here is a good example

its mine too so w/e

Is the Russian T-90 a good tank compared to say the German Leopard 2 or the Israeli Merkava?

I'm pretty certain they're all third generation MBTs, so they're comparable in that sense. I think they were designed for different environments types of combat though.

The T-90 is a 3rd Gen MBT.

But the latest iteration of the Merkava (Mk. IV) is a 4th generation MBT. There's only 660 of them.

No.

Don't let the name fool you, it's just an upgraded T-72.

Now don't get me wrong, a T-90 with a competent crew is nothing to sneeze at. But it's capabilities are nevertheless inferior to newer Western tanks who were after all designed to fight T-72's

If you want something Eastern European I would recommend the T-84 or the M-95.

The Merkava III and IV and the Leopard 2 could most likely beat a T-90 one on one but the T 90 is much lighter (+/- 20 tonnes! Making it more mobile in for example being able to cross bridges the other tanks couldn't) cheaper (also in upkeep) and fuel economy.

I suspect that a T-90 is capable of taking out the other tanks but the edge would go to the others. Higher rate of fire, better protection and I suspect superiour fire control.

On the other hand, you can get 2 T-90's for one Merkava III/IV or Leopard 2.

Okay, I'm looking at either the Leopard II of the Merkava IV for my countries main MBT. What are the advantages and disadvantages of each?

Thank you.

The Merkava is proven in battle, the Leopard 2 is not. I think the Leopard might be better in a tank vs tank engagement but the Merkava IV would be more effective against infantry. The Merkava has 2 medium and 1 heavy machine gun and a 60 mm mortar and a lot of innovative features. The Leo 2 only has 2 medium machine guns. Later models of the Leo 2 seem more advanced to me.

Yeah, thank you.

I probably need an mbt which is good against both other tanks and infantry, as I might face a variety of opponents. I'll do some research on those two tanks.

Thanks again. :)

Wrong. The Leopard 2 has seen action in Afghanistan, Kosovo, and with Turkey against rebel insurgents.
